Pomu's chat was slower and more intimate. Mint still averages 5-6k viewers and is probably completely overwhelmed by that, especially without anyone helping her besides Matara. She's only done one donation reading since coming back, when she was decently consistent about doing it before. Imo it's more likely that she's just completely overwhelmed by everything going on, and feeling more distant from her audience is just a side effect, not something she is intentionally doing or was advised to do.
With the clip you mentioned, I think she's also trying to figure out how to interact with old regulars. Clearly she's fine acknowledging old things she did as Mint, and she also clearly recognizes the names of regular Pomudachis, and will reference things she did as Pomu. But she may have more trouble interacting with specific chatters as directly as before, because she isn't sure how she should handle that level of connection to Pomu. Even some Pomudachis are confused, I saw some people slip up in chat today, and I saw some others send superchats that too overtly referenced her older Metal Gear streams that she did not acknowledge. It feels like a period of growing pains, and as much as I want her to be successful, I also hope her chat and community slow down to a place where she feels comfortable.

It's sadly going to be inevitable until she establishes herself as Mint to the new audience.
I do think both Mint and her audience want this in the end, but it's hard as things are since she's been a fairy for so long.
The podcast should help with that since she doesn't have to interact with chat, but it's still going to take some time regardless before stabilizing.
Hopefully by the time the podcast ends, everything should be more clear and the containment breaking is kept to a minimum and she doesn't fall to the brain worms and give up on vtubing

That will have an impact on her recognizing people and I honestly don't think it should matter if she does or doesn't want to acknowledge it. What you said about her being Pomu and her current role now is a bigger factor in addition to trying to not slip up given her proximity to the giant NijiEN drama that is still casting a shadow on everything. I know the contract leaked and it's almost 99% not enforceable but she is almost going to follow it to the letter which is around 6 months to a year.

I think until she knows what she wants to do whether reaching for elsewhere or staying indie, it will stay that way regardless. Containment breaking is still happening on a regular basis and the corpo rivalry when she can acknowledge one company but not the other again for dubious legal reasons is going to be a pain to deal with. I was more talking about the audience side of things. We don't know how she feels after all, so I can only comment on what I have seen.
The wisps are tying to build a new legacy in following Mint but it takes effort, motivation, time, and memories. The first 2 are fine as far as I can tell, the last 2 should be more solid 2-3 months later by the time the podcast ends. It's not as effective as a year, but I think it should still cull a good 90% of the stuff we see and imo that's enough.
I think having her fans able to help her by not throwing her attempts at becoming Mint in the trash is good motivation already.

As an ex-pomudachi, I don't think it makes much sense. We already know Niji is scrambling with projects and events. So it would make sense for Elira and Finana to have a song of theirs to represent them.
