None of them have the pull to network with other JP vtuber circles. No holobox, no nijibox, no broader VCR/Vspobox, no popular JP indiebox(Patra, Ui, Tamaki, etc.), no ASMRchuubabox, even other smaller JP corpo collabs seems like a difficult prospect.
I think it's pretty much impossible to grow as a streamer without at least interacting in these circles. At least EN phase has access to vshojo&friends. It's much more difficult on the other side.

Considering how unpopular the JP girls of EN1 are, it's wild how they thought that debuting a whole gen of it was a good idea

Might be an unpopular take, but PhaseJP is doing perfectly fine for what it is, PhaseEN started off much smaller than PhaseJP now which is still fairly impressive for the JP market which is notoriously awful to break into. PhaseJP was never gonna eclipse EN, but they’re in a fairly decent spot to grow at their current viewership.
