And no other vtubers are playing Shovel Knight at the moment, just because it doesn't interest you personally doesn't mean it's derivative. Finana plans on doing a review of her own ero art and Pomu plans on doing more horror ARG stuff akin to her Minecraft horror arc as well. They're making plenty of unique content.

Because when it came to NijiEN, enikara chose the safest route. You won't find anything there you wouldn't have found in a Hololive gen. It's hard to be original while streaming on a regular basis, dealing with copyright issues and such but yea so far niji EN seems like pretty competent streamers but none of them is standing out in a way that Calli or Ina did with their talent, or Gura with the way she can entertain while talking about the most mundane shit while also being a talented singer or Ame's OBS shenanigans, don't think any of them could serve as a live-translator like Kiara etc.
I guess when they debut their first male at least his gender will be a novelty and some people will call it a new era or something because he's bout to get more attention and subs than any other EN male Vtuber before him regardless of the content and quality.

They are just too late to the party, this is not exclusive to them but all new vtubers specially corporate ones. So most of the content they do is the already established or has been refined in execution, not to say it cannot be improved anymore. They also not willing, at least for now, to do something out of ordinary maybe because as corporate vtubers they also need to handle the paperwork.
life consultancy, old games, surprise collabs, inter company tournaments, gimmicky karaokes,asmr,cooking stream they are all existing genres or acts that most v tubers/streamers do nowadays however some of them stand out more than the others.
An example would be Leos and korone approach to old games as an example. One is a more meticulous show on how to beat a game while entertaining the audience and the other is just a rather blind play trough while showing genuine amousement and love for the aspects of the game that appear and endears the audience to keep watching those reactions.Both have different personalities and approach and people find that unique on them.
As a streamer putting your personality and twist into your game play or content is the goal.

Nijien hasn't had that yet imo, they are not know for something specific or way to play . mostly their difference is rather on their quirks like selenes laugh or some jokes like it was kiara bottom left or im pomu. Whatever content they choose to stream with is irrelevant, what matters is what they do to stand out with it. streaming nekorpara,onimusha or little nightmares is no different from streaming toki memorial, dmc or soma.

Even Haachama who popularized Sayo style shenanigans in the west takes massive amount of breaks, releases shorter content, and when doing longform her content isn't too different from what Pomu was doing in that Minecraft stream. If she wants to do more stuff like it she should definitely take advice from Mayuyu coz he's the only chuuba who does similar content with any regularity.
