All I can say is you're looking in the wrong places much like me when looking for women.
Guys that are into vtubers and anime and cons will be in places that cater to them.
Such as comic book stores(I know hard to think they exist still) used game shops, stores that sell anime paraphernalia ie manga, figures, and of course anime.
But also keep in mind that these guys also have zero game and confidence so just casually approach them and try striking up a conversation. Keep in mind they will be skeptical, they will drop spaghetti and or get extremely nervous so tread lightly.
But once they feel comfortable the magic can happen.

No we aren't. We're sitting at home working a boring 9-5 in between drinking and going to Vtuber events like Fes or the odd convention. It'd be cool to go to Japan or something with a cute girl and go to Fes together, but even though I don't have a fear of interacting with women, I have zero game and I'm not going out of my way to aggressively flirt with a cosplayer or something.

You're right the majority of us are dwelling at home after work.
But for me I do goto these places on occasion. I just usually get my shit and get out though since I could rack my credit card up pretty high on a bad day.
As for cosplayers I generally don't hit on them, I'll throw a few compliments that are friendly and that's it.
The point is she doesn't want normalfags as BF material so best case scenario is goto places where your average normalfag doesn't go.

Logically that makes sense, but I've never found the type of dude to go to a weeb store in the US to be the ideal specimen.
