Dropping at least 700+ USD on a commission for a rigged model doesn't seem like the most financially sound decision when you are, as per your post, up to your eyeballs in debt. If you really want to use a customised model, PNG models are a much cheaper option and you can use it to start to see if you like streaming before committing to a larger investment.

I'm sorry about that, I didn't realise that you were already using a PNG. Although you plan to not include the lower body, along with an eye and an arm, I'm inclined to agree with >>72936140 . The most difficult parts of a model to rig are from the waist up and so chopping off the bottom half (plus a limb) doesn't lighten the load as much as one might think.

Personally, I intend to rig my own model (I've played around with Live2D for half body models in the past) to start and then invest in a rigger with more experience should things take off. There is a bit of a learning curve but it could be worth trying. If you are a student, a 3 year subscription to Live2D would cost less than 60 USD. Subscription fee aside, the only additional cost is your time.

I'd like to echo this sentiment. If you're simply streaming just to do something with your day, having anything on-screen is worse than having nothing on-screen. If you intend to use whatever model/avatar/etc. to garner an audience and be a representative of yourself as a streamer/caster/content creator, having an extremely ugly shitpost design is an extremely easy way for someone to simply write all of your content off as either puerile trash or specifically in a presently-unknown range of ironic that doesn't appeal to anybody but your immediate base.

Hi! First time posting, sorry for the long post. I just want to know if what I “have” sounds good. I am interested in vtubing and have been for years, I have a model and everything, but real life got in the way. HOWEVER I am near graduating and looking to take vtubing as a more serious hobby now that I will be able to have hobbies.

I want to do streams related to history and crime, with some gaming and DIY/Toy review content. I also life nostalgia content. I am artistically inclined but not the best, I am also not very good at gaming. My degree is in criminology (and art), so I believe that I would be a good fit to do “true-crime” related content. I also have a passion for journalism. I would be interested in looking into commentary content as that is what I primarily consume (aside from vtubing content). I have a background is operatic singing and I am learning to play bass. I would probably prefer to stream solo. I am not extremely sociable but I can get along with almost anyone if I have to. I struggle making friends and connections, particularly online, and tend to only make one or two really close friends at a time. This is mainly because I do not keep up with people well (I have a bad habit of just not replying) and find it difficult to get past my initial social anxiety (which is a big reason behind why I don’t respond a lot). I am not established and I have neglected my vtuber account because I have been working full time and going to school full time for the past 4 years. I do, however, have an account and have secured my handles on many platforms. Unfortunately I fucking hate social media and I am not “good” at it. I don’t like posting updates on every small aspect of my life, and when I do try to do this I either can’t stick with it or I become obsessed. I am not chronically online. I have real life social obligations and a boyfriend I live with. I worry that the fact I have a boyfriend may be a problem, as “hiding” him would be difficult because he is such a large part of my life and we live together in a small space (two room apartment, essentially a studio apartment but we have a small bedroom). I don’t know if I would be comfortable hiding him. I also have other career aspirations and generally view vtubing as a hobby I am interested in pursuing. I am considering law school and would hate to be doxxed or slandered online and have that possibly impact my actual career prospects. I am worried about this not only because I have a boyfriend and I am not taking this “seriously”, but also because I am not always politically correct. Streaming on Twitch is rather gaming-focused, especially when starting out. Content about history and crime would probably be better as YouTube videos, or streams once you have a larger audience. Gaming and art skills are nice but not required.

Socializing/networking goes a long way in growing as a content creator. There's no need to force yourself to reply to everything or give constant updates on your life. Generally speaking, succeeding as a streamer is more about being consistent rather than trying to minmax everything, so avoiding a path to burnout is good. That being said, it's also nice to interact with other VTubers and make new friends, so I would suggest doing just a little bit outside your comfort zone.

Having a boyfriend (and choosing to hide that fact or not) is a highly debated topic on /vt/. The truth is that there are many successful VTubers who openly have boyfriends, so it's only a problem if your content is specifically trying to appeal to lonely men. As for doxxing fears, it shouldn't really be an issue if your content isn't politically focused, especially if you have decent opsec.

I was in the server and nobody spoke about crabbing other people, only the obviously fake leak and a very small amount of trolling where people crabbed themselves with obviously fake rrats only in wasp, which are things that everyone already knows about from the screenshots. Both wasp and asp are full of schizocrabbing and astroturfing anyway so it does not make a difference.

It has been impressively blown out of proportion here for being a nothingburger, but finding out other threads have schizoposted 5 screenshots into sounding like an organized board-wide raid group is really funny.
