/vt/ is filled with too much false information—this is isn't even about the schizoposting so much as people just assuming something about a V that's obviously wrong. this is especially true of new posters who despite having to go through a captcha somehow don't take the time to think or do their reps. a simple example is people not knowing who is babiniku/trap
many threads on the site in general don't generate great discussion either, because it's first and foremost an imageboard, but even then many posters prefer to post [v name][ESL-style ellipsises] or some other non-post without even posting so much as a screenshot
discords are too circle jerky and are more prone to go off about something unrelated
actual discussion on reddit outside of maybe hololive is sparse, and the comment format and the karma system is inherently bad for any depthy, longer discussion. there's also a fair amount of misinformation because of a lower proportion of JSLs to EOPs
there are currently no alternative forums currently large enough to sustain much of a discussion beyond random threads that basically start with OP asking "what's a vtuber" or "do you watch vtubers"

Second is I'm a closet tourneyfag, so I like to talk about the strategies and who has the best odds of winning. APEX, Mario Kart, Fallguys, RPS, whatever. It's hard to talk about that when most people have a pretty poor evaluation of the game's mechanics, vtuber's individual abilities and potential, their relationships to one another and how that affects gameplay, etc, because as you said, most people here have grown tired of actively consuming and don't actually pay attention to streams.

The only Apex tournaments I watched were Astel,Izu, and Kira's 1st one where Astel was going ape shit and when they brought alone Aruran (#Ragwin), it was like watching a training arc in an anime with an emotional ending to it all.
