I think we need to have an /l2d/ - Live2d General to go with this since a lot of the fucking know-how and doing certain tricks is on discord or obscure tweets.

I like Moom's design as a whole in general and not just as a vtuber design. You got the owl/bird motif throughout. Especially with the hooded cape(let)
It has the adventurer aesthetic down too. The dagger, lamp and bag and I think the loose-fitted belt is just a personal touch I like
I also guess it's hard to put a subject as broad as "civilization" into a design but the gears are good enough and combined with her shirt and color balance, almost a steampunkish look which would probably be more prominant if she had a some sort of face convering mask too
I think the alternate mooms like Boomei, Harpy Mumei, mumei Mumei, Red Riding Moom and any of the other ones are able to work because her base design lends itself well to implementation into other themes well
On that note, I guess there's almost a bit of idol in it but not enough to make it apparent. I'd prefer just a little bit more though
I guess the perfect balance of that goes to Marine which is the perfect mix pirate and idol in terms of design. I guess it's kind of like how Danganronpa mixes the talent of what the character is supposed to be good at with a nomral but customized school outfit
Boots and gloves are cool. Good on them for not making the inside of the cloak a color she'd get lost in and the feathers make her silhouette way more recognizeable. Plus her eyes have this interesting feeling of "warmth" due to sharing similar hues with her lamp
Not my personal favorite but i'd give it an "objective" 9/10, maybe 10/10 if I'm feeling it

Almost perfect design. Only problem is that kemonomimi shouldn't have a second set of human ears

>kemonomimi shouldn't have a second set of human ears
Agreed. Why do people decide to go with both sets of ears on anyway?

>> No.72370366

Some Vtubers, especially more recent ones, have designs that are way too busy and complicated.
>>72369741
I agree with your comment on the ears.

i dont know about JPs but indies and small corpos have massive fucking main character syndrome when it comes to designs. EVERYONE has to look like a protagonist. No one can just complement each other to balance the dynamics out.

Cool color balance. Adding the hat and jacket which are black and a strong but not overpowering contrast to the color scheme
I've notice this is kind of the case with FuwaMoco and their black jackets
It's also nice that it keeps in mind that it's a vtuber design and that the top half is more improtant while the bottom half pretty much just echos the top half's design elements
Don't know what she's supposed to be exaclty but the gun's enough of a hint and provides enough intrigue

think of it like danganronpa.
everyone is an "ULTIMATE" something.
the problem really is there isn't a Naegi. Nobody's willing to be "the plain one"

Nijisanji: best designs, literal cardboard rigging
Hololive: great designs, subpar rigging
Other JPs(VSPO, Neo-Porte): great designs, good rigging
Small corpos: ok designs, good rigging
EN indies/Vshojo: worst designs, best rigging

Westerners suffer really hard from "my design must look like a vtuber" syndrome, made worse from their biased perceptions only seeing the most unique aspects from each popular vtuber (often from holos with their mascot-y styles). So they end up going way overboard on those even as it ruins the balance of their models.

On the other hand, many corpos actually have decent rigging solely from using Vtube Studio tracking over some in-house bunk, but they often only do the minimum required.
It's mostly indies who have the dedication to use that tracking software to its full potential.
So whenever I see one with a not bad art style/design they can stand out so so much.

Eimi, the genki gyaru lab assistant hamster, Isami
I'll be the first to admit that I mainly stick to corpos BUT Eimi's rigging is insane. Bouncy hair, flowing clothes with shadow to follow, an open close toggle to her skirts, A FORWARD LEAN, and an overly expressive face that follows her every facial movement and emotion to the vibe of the stream. Never have I been blown away with such an amazing model and personality to give it life

I actually disagree. A human head without humanoid ears looks weird and uncanny as well, the only time it doesn't is when the hair would be hiding the spot where the ears should be anyway.

As mentioned here >>72369463 when it comes to Danganronpa. There designs aren't really all that complicated as their concept is to essentially mix the aesthetic of a profession or hobby in with thoat of a normal school outfit. This allows for both a sense of uniqueness while maintaing a sense of unity and belonging to each other. With the example of Marine mixing "idol" and "pirate" together

I personally think more gens should have this design sense since doing that across a whole bramch much less company could be a bit too constricing. Plus Hololive has the "idol" frame to work from but other groups like Niji or Vshojo don't really have the common throughline (since it's pretty much formed from indies) so it's fine

>the only time it doesn't is when the hair would be hiding the spot where the ears should be anyway
Exactly. Anything that covers up where the ears would be being there would be what makes it fine
It only looks uncanny when something forces the attention to a missing part of the body but if they got ears either big enough to account for that spot or hair over it, it looks completely normal since that's they way it's normal presented
