Homos have no brand identity or desire to be "idols" in the traditional sense.

Miyabi is supposed to be that, but I don't think he was ever at the top of the homo hierarchy in terms of numbers, while Sora was pulling the entire fucking company behind her back for YEARS before Fubuki took over.

Strength of holo collabs is the banter, they'll usually have some minor joke with each other to break the ice (which is why every holo has some or the other "go to joke" that they can use with each other). Homos have nothing like that. I don't think they even have unique self-introductions.

Cover leaves the branding to the talents themselves and only helps and gives advice. Homos have clearly either been given bad advice post-Shinove, or they aren't following Cover's advice at all.
As Sora said, Talent Freedom only goes so far without taking responsibility for your own brand and content.

A combination of Gamma + Roberu as the head of the branch (daisenpai) who focus more on outside collabs and leading their mindshare, STRICTLY telling the holo girls to leave them alone to grow, might have eventually reached 3k or 5k levels back in 2020 when Covid caused a ton of online entertainment to blow up.
It's not like Nijis like Yashiro or Toya were much different. A more comedy oriented 3rd person in the early gens might have even served the role of the homo branch's Pekora, and become a 10k regular streamer similar to a lot of male nijis (pre 2023).
Either way, this is the reality they're stuck with. Whether different choices might have made the homo branch more relevant is pointless to speculate about because we have no time machine, so this is the only reality that we can observe.
