Sorry for late reply but for a lot of why Plave is doing well in Korea seems to come from a major vacuum that was present inside the country: Korea doesn't have regular releases of their own domestic tv animation of even episodic and lighthearted shows and are unlikely to be ever able to support that. Most Korean animators work as outsource workers for Jap anime. Cover would be hard pressed to be able to find a similar vacuum in their area when it comes to any major demographic, male or female. Plave ended up being something like a pg/pg-13 rated Korean tv variety show and a psuedo comedy anime rolled into one, due to how their staff set up how they work. Both the staff and group of course natively understand the local memes and other current in-jokes on the Korean side of the internet in a way Jap comedy anime or any US comedy animation/shows simply don't for Koreans. I wouldn't be surprised if their company looked at OGs like Gamebu to take cues for the format.

BUT Japan doesn't suffer from this same vacuum. This difference has to be heavily considered when looking over what's worked in one country imo. Cover would have to find a way to fill in for a sore demand somewhere that may not necessarily exist on a large enough scale because of Japan's size as a country and how many different projects of all different kinds are always around. Despite the size of the company now, Cover and all their projects are still only one or a few types in an enormous pool of different people's/companies' ambitions. There's always some strong outside factors out of anyone's control

It wasn't. If you watched both streams, Hakka started out low energy in his membership and wound it higher and higher before bursting out into Shinri's apartment. Shinri started out a bit higher energy in detailing his exploits and then was winding down and chilling over time. So the abrupt meeting of the two energies caused them to bounce off each other a little harsher than witnessed before, Hakka being overly energetic and Shinri being a little of a challenge/putdown, but in a very friendly way. Hakka was ready to give more and more whilst Shinri was kind of wrapping up, and that's what got them yabbed at the end, kek.
