I think the big litmus test is going to be how well Sony's big project goes, but vsingers seems like a natural extension of the existing utaite culture who've always been fairly secretive about themselves, which is why so many of them are or were ones, if they're not super young. I don't think it's ever going to hit Taylor Swift levels of popularity, but I don't think it's going to remain super niche either since you do have Western acts like the Gorillaz, and to a lesser extent Daft Punk, who're very similar in the past. It also provides a level of separation for you as an artist vs you as a person, which seems like it might be important in the ever increasingly social media addicted society we live in.

I know it's pure coincidence, but it's amusing how this got dropped within hours of IRyS doing her version. I really like Yomi's take, more then IRyS's, even if it is just a one chorus version. She took a little bit of liberties with how she approached the song, and as a result made it sound distinctive even if she didn't quite match Towa's incredible power and smoothness on the start of the chorus. Meanwhile, IRyS was much more faithful to the original, not putting in the vocal adlibs like Yomi does, and yet she didn't have anywhere near the same power on the chorus. You can also hear her get nasally on the big note at the start of the chorus, but overall it was much better then her Inochi cover since she did manage to get some emotion into the song, even if it is once again lacking compared to the original. I will fully admit that Yomi's isn't flawless either, you can hear her get a bit off on the line before the final 'Story', but for what I assume is a quick and dirty recording if it's on nana, it's hardly a deal breaker. Neither of them is bad, mind you, but I do hope IRyS can find her own voice if she's going to continue to do covers of songs like this, and props for taking on some of the hardest songs in the Holo repitoire.

I actually really like Watame's singing, and her studio produced stuff is pretty quality, especially since she's got a good ear for picking songs that suit her voice instead of just trying to force whatever the latest FotM song is. She's not always on point during her Fevers, but she's never advertised those as a huge perfect concert. They're just her singing her favorite songs for two hours a week as practice and for fun, and for someone who doesn't bill herself as a vsinger, she still does a lot more karaoke then most vsingers I follow, which probably does mean I forget her weaker moments and only remember the high points, but hey. Watame certainly isn't consistently great yet, which is where the reps come in, but when she's on, she's great.

From the official covers that use the standard instrumentals I'd probably choose Saki's. Reason being there's a part I'm looking for more intensity somewhere around the start of last chorus ~3:30 not sure if thats just me. I feel like at that point the instrumentals dominate too much, but a piano arrange wont have as much effect as with MaiR's cover.
