I remember something about soup being incredibly useful for survival, because stuff like grilling meat and vegetables makes you lose nutrients and fat to the fire, while in a stew all the components are kept in the broth, and it extracts more nutrients from things like bones. Plus if it's a relatively low temperature stew the nutrients end up being less degraded than higher temperature methods.

Deadbeatification is possible on all vertebrate animals, and will have varying effects. The sharp decrease in melanin in skin and fur is universal, as well as the decrease in body temperature, but the quantity and length of hairs will stay the same. Animals with a higher metabolism, such as small critters like rats, birds or frogs will be more skeletal due to the higher dehydration, while bigger animals will retain more bulk after the deadbeatification. The same goes for humanoid sentients; smaller people like Gemlins or Salamoym will usually be more bony than human deadbeats, while the opposite would apply to people larger than humans.
Also, the change in eye color will apply to all as well.

There are! One of them’s hinted in the backstory where the first (surviving) city’s founded after the people followed the river into the caves! I imagine there are more sections of rivers that are underground but these are the longest ones
I also plan to put a free port on the small hill at the mouth of the northern river! It’s a large wetland so I guess it’s not the most habitable place but maybe I can at least get some fog there

>> No.68020903

>>68019262
I'd imagine there's a risk of the caves collapsing and causing the entire region to flood. You can create a flooded lake out of a collapsed underground river. It might be a disaster during the floods. However once the water drains into a new riverpath you now have a brand new lake filled with fish, woods, and hunting game. The lake can even be used for irrigation. Assuming its not contaminated from the tunnel collapse.

Yeah it's weird, it's basically a spot of land stuck between two himalayas, it's a double rain shadow, so it's dry enough to have deserts despite being on the equator, and because of the wide range of elevation there are both cold and hot deserts in there.
It's fairly settled atm, with heimin, gem and morig being in those parts.

The Temperature layer would be much more reliable if the number of bands could be increased, but I couldn't find a way to do so.
Also the bottom 2 bands here >>68011377
for some reason don't show the temperature. They are supposed to be -2C and -11C.
There's also a -11C band on the top which is not visible since I can't zoom out far enough to show it, and chose to show the lower part which has a landmass there. Pic related is the upper part.

I suppose it’s not the worst civilization-defining landscape

>>68045826
More or less! My idea is that /vnug/ has developed different sources of magic depending on the intended use!
>magical essential oil vapor
The original form of magic, coming from evaporation from galewort plants. It’s the weakest in terms of intensity, which is why earliest forms of /vnug/ magic were all about manipulating senses and bodily functions, since the magic only has to give the targets a little push for their own body to do the rest
>herbal medicine
Made by drying up the plants. The overall intensity is similar, but the effect lasts longer due to the whole plant being present. It’s how traditional /vnug/ medicine works.
>magical essential oil
Made by extracting the magical juice from the plants. As concentrate they are more powerful, and their effects are more stable than their natural counterparts. /vnug/ field magic users usually carry a belt of vials with this stuff as “magic slots”. Can also be converted back into vapor through specific devices for medicinal and recreational uses.
>magical crystal
Solid magical material made by crystallizing magical essential oil, sometimes with ground magical gemstone mixed in. They are denser than liquid or gas so they contain more magic to be used, although they can be harder to trigger than them because of their stronger structure. Serious /vnug/ combat magic is usually powered by this.
>magical gemstone
The only /vnug/ magical source that doesn’t come from plants, instead from natural gemstones with trace magical elements mixed in. Of all the magical materials they have the highest density of magic, but they’re also the hardest to trigger. In the past they were either ground up to fortify magical crystal and magical essential oil (doing the latter might be how they discovered the crystallization process in the first place) or to get hit by magic to “ignite” them but recent tech development allows /vnug/ artificers to invent instruments that can trigger magical gemstones by themselves, expending the magic quickly or over a long period of time

I made a new dialect if anyone's interested. it's barebones for now but i'm always taking suggestions.

Population density is also restricted by construction of housing. Wattle and daub was used to build most castle town homes. And it has a weight limit with how high you can build it even with timbered support. Also in the middle ages most people lived in the country to live off of the land. Idk about that. Its certainly a contributing factor, but humans have had the food production thing on lockdown for a while now and even then our population densities have always varied greatly.

Its been one of those days where things got shifted around. Going to be busy tomorrow morning. I just need to plan a better schedule. Also I need to use my phone more for note taking since I'm not at my computer much anymore.

In the meantime I should plan out the flying bakery more. It's an airship. A fairly small airship that holds a breadog and a person. The capacity is about 5 people max. Breadog is the pilot. Baker-chan handles the maintenance and repairs. I use "bakery" losely. Its more like a food truck where half the cabin is kitchen and the other half is food storage. Deep space age tech gives the airship a small reactor core for power and Sana magic gives propulsion and some gravity manipulation. The prosthetic hand doubles as a Swiss army knife with multiple attachments for appliances, tools, and a grappling hook. No energy arm canons. The prosthetic can help hold a gun to aim. Also a skin-tight bodysuit can produce some armor with D0UGH tech to absorb a small bullet but higher caliber and melee weapons can rip through it. The body suit is more of an interface to connect to space suits and combat armor. Also the suit can interact with the airship's computer so nobody can steal the ship. This might be too much power but I really want some space age asthetics.

Seeing as the wretched land was not the place to propagate their goddess' trade, the remaining Hähnchens made the grueling voyage into Viti, braving rough seas and hostile peoples. With their goddess' guidance, they finally settled to the lands west of the deathlands, under strict commandment of their deity.
