because i usually get overly obsessed with things i enjoy, i tend to go all in on it. for example, if i were streaming a game in a series, i would want to not only 100 percent it, but 100 percent complete all the other games associated with it and understand a franchise to its completion. i did this with kingdom hearts, drakenier, metal gear, and transformers chiefly among my interests. i would also probably talk for a really long time about seemingly minute things of little import. i get hung up on details a lot. there are also times when i have issues reading situations or jokes so chat might have to explain to me maybe.

It depends on your type of autism, if it's the type where you can't stop talking about something for hours or you always have the same topics to talk about, then there should be no problem. If it's about games, it can be even better. You can even turn that into your personal brand

1. Autism is a meme now and half the people don't know what it actually means.
2. It may be pretty annoying IRL but I think its downsides are heavily downplayed when you are a streamer since people don't have to deal with you against their will and also your social awkwardness is not so evident. And advantages, on the contrary, are accentuated, since long hours of streaming, genuine interest in games you are playing and ability to talk no matter about what for hours are really valued by the audience.

people who grew quickly after starting to stream either had some social boost like an established creator associating with them or made some other content before to garner an already existing audience like Lucy Pyre in pic related for example having made YouTube videos for a while before her first stream

so in short no, mental issues and conditions are not a deterrent, there are multiple autistic vtubers. hell some are even psychotic, having talked about the medication they are taking to stay stable

i had already decided that starting off streaming as a vtuber would not only be very un-fun, but probably doom me to a very limited audience especially because i prefer streaming tools on youtube over twitch. my plan was to start with making videos that are 5-20 minutes focused on my interests and then move into streaming, though streaming would probably be more focused on me capturing footage for potential videos about my interests. thats not to say i would ignore my audience or anything while streaming - i find it very important to interract with audiences while streaming.

there are lots of successful /wvt/ with autism and all sorts of other neurodivergencies. in fact, streaming is a hobby where these types of people congregate. so being a person that “obsessively talks about X video game” isnt special at all. and i mean that negatively, youll just be another bum who brings nothing special to the table. if its the kind of autism where you fixate on a skill like drawing then the sky is literally your limit.
