Part of the appeal of vtubing, to me, is the potential for longevity. You really aren't forced into a particular format- the game is just getting started, really -so a vtuber could potentially keep it going well into their middle age or early parts of late life, if they so choose. So while this system would let people gracefully retire once they were done with it, sort of, it would also pressure people to quit early/at a peak, and maybe even "reroll" to try to get multiple revenue streams rolling to live off of. There would be a factor of "you should have quit when people loved you but now you've dragged it out" / diminishing returns FOMO, as well as pressure for new talent- "why are you still taking up studio/staff resources? Make room already" type rhetoric.

Some time ago there was a thread about the graduation of which holos would hit Cover the hardest and anons talked shit about others saying Gura because of the "no streams" meme, when this is exactly why. They are 100% okay with her streaming only whenever she feels like it as long as she is occasionally available for promotions because she is a huge asset to them as a "mascot character" for Hololive. And not even for EN but in large parts for JP and Asia and generally where all her merch (again, despite no streams) still always sells out like this, where they plaster her on things to promote local tourism among other stuff to people who probably have no idea about her being a EN vtuber who practically only streamed in English. From these Gura has the worst model in terms of quality and rigging by far.
