The lycanroc "copy" only really copies the dark-light-dark-light ordering of fur... which is pretty generic and an obvious option for contrast. Same idea and bodyshape? It's a literal fucking wolf.

The Luxray "copy" has almost nothing in similar except that the main fur color is dark. Different feet shape and leg articulation, square more dog-like snout, make is spread outwards like a lion instead of backwards like sonic. Backwards facing triangle ears instead of foward facing circular ears. Luxray has no colored rim on the design.

The Cobalion "copy" is probably the closest one, mostly just due to the color palette being pretty much the same. But the shape of the palworld design overall is totally different, not even remotely similar. Each aspect of the body differs significantly from Cobalion except that they're both deer-like. Are nice color palettes banned now?

Meganium "copy", head and eye shape lifted? The head is a fucking oval and the eye is a half moon shape. Like 99% of pokemon have this head shape if they're not a dog or cat what the fuck. This is closer to goodra than maganium and they're still completely unalike.

The Liligant "copy" has the same color palette? It's literally a fucking plant. Are you not expecting it to use green yellow red and white, the most common plant/flower colors? It doesn't even actually have the same shades, the dark green has a blue tinge to it when liligant doesn't. The "idea" here is "flower girl", do artist still think that "ideas" can be stolen? The entire system of copyright is built around the fact that you can't steal ideas, because ideas, only specific expressions, because people are having ideas all the time. If every "ideas guy" could chase people down for taking his ideas literally nothing would ever get made.

It's part of copyright law. Under the concept of execution, which is what copyrights protect. You cannot copyright an idea. The execution is way too close to pokemon for me to not call this at least borderline plagiarism. They're playing with fire on this one. This also doesn't fall under parody. Let me make it clear to you the stakes here, I dont hate palworld, my friends are playing it and I don't judge them just liek when my friends played the Harry Potter game, if you want to enjoy the game by all means please enjoy.

But when I looked at the trailer for it I thought "hmm why do these designs lack consistancy, theme, and quality? This is weird..." And I ultimately decided not to play it because I want to save money and time for Grandblue Relink, but after seeing side by side comparisons it's obvious they just fed models into ai and touched them up. I even question how much they touched it up becaus ethings like the rendering on the cats forehead would never be accepted by a professional artist's hand if they had any experience, I can literally see the sloppy computers decisions that they did not catch.

You bring up other games combat and rules, but those fall under ideas, and those are limited and we need to keep ideas free so people can build on those ideas. But design and ideas are not the same thing. Design should offer infinite possibilies....

so yes you can have the same idea of a cheshire grinning cat, that is 100% ok, but when the eye, mouth, teeth placement, general shapes are all similar well it's more akin to a tracing and yes I feel like it is plagerised as much as Sonichu is not an original design just because you mashed them together.

NTA can you show me that example? I see the AI accusation fly around but nothing i can see in the models themselves, they look just as ugly and simplistic as pokemon characters to me at a glance. There's a legal precedent for Pokemon fanart and derivatives to exist and not be sued into oblivion. That's why these designs are fine from a legal standing.
This isn't a plagiarism issue or an art theft issue or an idea theft issue. The issue is you're looking for things to be upset about and latching on to something that just isn't gonna go anywhere.
This game isn't scamming anyone. The official marketing didn't say it was Pokemon with guns, that came from other people. That's what everyone saw and expected and that's what got delivered.

So there's som principles of design that really tell me things like this was not designed by an artist at all.

1. Design emphasises clarity so you know what you are looking at, the fact that black squiggle goes up the arm and is SO close to the mouth makes 2 competing focal points for literally no reason. Our ey is drawn to the high constras of the bolt and its competing with the face that is a natural focal point, but WHY? These are things that artists understand but an AI does not consider, also why is that squiggle in that shape? it doesnt look like a bolt or anything clear and easily replicable, designs especcially for mascots should be EASILY replicable there so no reason that you'd have ambigous hard to reproduce shapes on your designs like this, so that just tells me AI made these decisions not a person, ( unless that person had literally no idea what they were doing ). Also the contrast of the black and yellow is just ridiclous and an eyesore, none of the other monsters around it have this fucted up contrast why the big guy? Well because AI doesnt care about keeping consistant rules to design, only artists care about those kinds of things. There is a lot more in this game that tells you it's ai and they really cheaped out on paying an artist to design anything.

Nothing you wrote has to do with AI, its just amateur design choices. They had to take a flat image generated by the AI and make a 3D model out of it anyway, meaning they had room to make changes and fill in the 50% of the model you wouldn't see on a flat image. Meaning an artist had to work on it, not just AI. I'll save myself the trouble on listing the 2D to 3D workflow details. I agree with the bolt being too close to the mouth, it would be better if it went onto the side of the head if you wanted to keep it, but unless you really zoom out, its not actually distracting from the face. Not sure why you'd blame this design on using black and yellow when pikachu exists as well.

In the end nothing about this says AI. And as i posted the image before, 80% of pokemon designs look atrocious if you expect them to be as good an marketable as the average japanese mascot. In the end these awful designs with bad artistic choices could exist and did, before AI existed. The only way you could blame AI if you had concept art posted by the developer and you could spot distinct AI generated noise and error soup.
