Twitch isn't just an american thing, theres a lot of streamers/viewers from all over. The website isn't just about games and hot tubs, they at least cracked down on it and made it its own category so it doesn't take up the Just chatting section. Theres a wide variety of streams that don't even have anything to do with games (DJ streams, cycling, cooking, etc) The great thing about twitch is the "Raid/host" feature, it encourages streamers to send their viewers after they're done streaming to another streamer which helps in getting more eyes on your stream.
