Why? The org gives you more than just a label. They organize concerts, meetings, various events. They also have other talents which creates a dynamic you cannot have as indie. Even now, Matara still talks about Pomu despite not being able to interact with her. Nina/Pomu dynamic was pretty good and I can understand that it was a selling point for some poeple to watch them.

I've made the same point about actual idol graduations. In an ideal world, what Vshojo does would be "graduation" for Vtubers. I would accept the IP rights argument for making them abandon their personas if they didn't also have to pretend they never were that person.
The very brief period where they considered having a different "voice actor" for the same character after a streamer graduated was maybe the only valid reason, and as I recall someone tried that once and the fans rioted, so no one wants that, either.

One thing i've never understood about hololive/nijisanji is the deletion of a vtubers content upon graduation and stopping merch sales etc (especially if the talent left on good terms). From a financial perspective it doesn't make sense to me considering that content can continue to bring in some revenue through ads and whatnot.

Technically, in that sense the actor was already established and did his audition to it, and he just went back to being another character or himself. The last two points are the real issue, but one can be attributed and still talked without an issue, is just keeping it to probably not drag neither the character or yourself into it, many actors hate having the one "paper" for all their life and often try to remove that image from themselves because it ruins their career like you have no idea. The last one is the only one I could agree I hate the most, especially after what they did to Hachaama.
