Very unlikely. First of all, pre-holo Nerissa wasn't really on Kiara's radar, there was not much interaction on twitter etc., compared to other Kiara fangirls who got more interaction and (if you think interaction/attention is indicative of closeness and therefore motivation to nepohire) still didn't get nepohired. So it probably doesn't really work that way anyway.
Plus, from all accounts it seems Kiara, or any other existing talents for that matter, didn't have any information or knowledge about who/what is going on in Covers audition/hiring process, that stuff is kept away from them (arguably reasonable), and she was just as surprised as everyone else.

Seriously, I know nepohiring gets meme'd alot (hurrdurr Ina-Sana, hurrdurr JP Gamers, etc), but most of the time it's really doesn't work that way. At best, an existing talent can encourage a friend to apply, and maybe even put in a good word so that staff will look at her application more closely, but in the end the applicant has to convince the company herself of her own qualities and skills that she'd make a good talent, irrespective of her relationships.

Cover was actually behind on 3D tech when they were still small, they also were a bit more into that whole idol RP in the past. So it's not too surprising something like that didn't happen in the HoloJP of old.
And now that they have that fancy big studio it's constantly booked out so there is no time for stuff like that.

From what can be pieced together by what various talents have said over the years, they have very little to no input on their original base design. At best, they can ask to modify small aspects like an accessory here and there, depending on their clout, but the general "character type" (setting/lore, body type, rough attire, animal attribute, etc.) is set by the company ahead of time, who then commissions artists to produce the pre-made models for them. Then afterwards during the audition the company "casts" who they think would be the best fit for model X, Y and Z and assigns them to the prospective talent.
It's only afterwards, during their second, third and so-on outfit, that the talent gets more say in how they would like their additional outfits to look and is able to personalize them to their liking.

So it's very unlikely that Nerissa would be able to "demand" a bird attribute herself for the initial model. It was probably just a lucky coincidence, or maaaybe some higher-ups were already thinking ahead ("hey, she says likes this other bird we have, and she's a singer and we just made this official singing group of birds, sooo...")

eh, she had similar great streams elsewhere, it's mostly just a combination of being in a good/hyper mood at the time in general, plus the setting playing into her strengths.
She's a guest on someone else's channel, so she doesn't have to worry about the technical aspects of streaming and can just focus on bantering.
And the activity is a semi-structured presentation about a topic she's interested in and not bored by, which plays into her strength of talking (more than playing a game would which takes away mental bandwith and most talk is just reaction commentary), gives her lots of opportunities to develop free conversations.

I wish they did more of that in HoloEN, pure zatsu collabs or at least loosely structured around a theme they are interested in so they actually care. Those are always the most fun.
