Perhaps it's the the isolated environment, or the mountain air, maybe he's just more resistant to the change. Let's run it this way.
Take a small town, more like a village than a proper town. And well Trigger wide spread Lamyification but there's a catch not everyone changes at the same rates.
Some might just be equal speed for mental and physical change
Others might quickly realize they're Lamy just with a very strange and UNLamy Body. But even some more might have that Lamy Body but still haven't even started to think like a proper Lamy.
Of course only people who are fully Lamy can get her outfit and most importantly her Hat and Coat! So imagine being stuck just not able to get completion until your stupid mind realizes it should be Lamy! Why won't it be Lamy, your friends are Lamy but you're just lagging behind and nothing seems to speed your Lamyification.
