I was looking at this views/time thing and there seems to me to be a lot of really weird methodological choices that introduce a lot of noise and weird biasing.

One of the biggest ones though from my perspective is that the ranking for each is converted to a fraction that gets averaged out with your ranking in other time series. The issue the way I see it is that longer stream durations have much smaller denominators because fewer streamers have e.g. 7 hour stream vods. So the result is that your rank 1 at 7~8 hours gets converted into 1/38 or something wheras your rank 1 at 1~2 hours gets converted into 1/400. One of those numbers is like 10x the size of the other, you're basically just getting penalized for bothering to have streamed in more stream duration zones? What's the point of that?

There are plenty of other issues but like... in general this seems really quite silly to me. How has this been going so long without any methodological fixes?

You gotta remember that the old image of Pekora being a "high floor low ceiling" was caused by her 2020-2021 era of streaming style where she just relies on minecraft as her main content and kusoge and JRPG as her secondary crutch, people in the threads back then joked that minecraft is her only cope.

2022 was an extremely transformative year for Pekora since the first quarter put her in a corner(2022 Q1 had no minecraft arcs and the weekend was clogged up by HoloX Miko and Subaru all streaming JRPGS at the same time so everyone was getting awful viewership at their weekend streams). Suddenly she's forced to try out new content outside her comfort zones like handcam streams and gacha grinding streams. All of those streams paid on few months later on the line when she started FGO and when Pekora cooking became a staple content in her channel.

2023 was just her applying what she learned in 2022 and utilizing it for the entire year. Pekora has a decent foresight to realize that she can't use the same strategy twice this year(which is surprisingly what Mio's fortune told her too). So who know's what she'll do this year and whether she'll fix that box issue.

TLDR Pekora running out of content at one point basically saved her.

Pekora's kikaku game is pretty weak, there are a lot of options there if she felt like doing streams that require some prepwork. This is always going to be the biggest category with the most potential for new stuff.

She could do some roke stuff. It's arguably weaker/more difficult content for vtubers because of inherent limitations they have to deal with, but I've seen plenty of them make it work.

She could chuck in some ASMR. She did that one stream with Noel and I think she showed she could do that pretty easily. To be honest this isn't a very serious suggestion, I'm just curious to see what kind of numbers a pekora solo ASMR would get, and then also what kind of numbers it would get if she did it say, once a month.

I dunno, streaming is a really versatile medium in general. You only have to look around at other chuubas and you'll notice plenty of stream formats that Pekora has never touched.

And obviously having a bunch of successful MVs helps too, and those aren't shorts either. Marine is really weird because she has really really strong views growth across each of streams, MVs and shorts. Every other vtuber is basically only good at 1 at best.
