Wave 2 is literally the cavalry. Niji en have been struggling relative to hololive because they're safe, low energy chubas. The next batch will hopefully throw in some wild card bokkes to complement them, creating an all around more entertaining dynamic while rounding out the roster. This is what niji en is missing right now.

Only time will tell whether they're up to the task, but qualityfags will celebrate wave 2 with more fanfare (or at least less hatred) than the Irys debut. In fact, the botched Irys debut is a fantastic time to swoop in and drop new chubas with good models. The only variable is their value as entertainers, which remains to be seen. I'm withholding judgment until they get doxxed or debut so there's something to base an opinion on. Things look hopefully optimistic, even if they do the bare minimum and avoid fucking up. It's actually not that hard to believe if you look at it as a test case to how well a male vtuber would last in an otherwise female wave. But since we don't know what kind of audience they are trying to reach with male vtubers. If what they try doesn't work, they have time to change what they are trying to debut after the male auditions are done later and learn from the mistakes. For the most part it's less that I want males in the abstract, and more that I'm sure there's plenty of great male indies out there and I'd love to see them have the same opportunities as their female counterparts.
Then there's the smaller part of once you have a few guys you can capture the fun "bros being bros" feeling it's hard for a group of women, even entertaining ones, to capture.
And then even smaller there's my homolust, which I won't pretend isn't a factor even if it's not the main one.
