It puts things in perspective better from a popularity and skill point of view.
For example, on the normal average zatsudan/game stream, the big companies usually get shit on by the smaller ones. I'd rather a Yuuna stream over any of the larger holos.

Where the big companies shine though is in collabs and covers where the former I think they just have more experience and the smaller vtubers have no idea what they're supposed to be doing and it's just hella awkward. The later they can just rent actual studios while half the indies are singing in their closet, and it makes a world of difference.

quality of the streamer aside, you basically lose the entire purpose of vtubing when you get to larger numbers.
Streamers are amateur content creators, but the appeal is that they're 'one of us' and we can chat with them and be their 'friend'. With smaller streams the streamer gets to know their regulars and is basically the center of a community, but at the same time they're a member of the community that chats with and banters with their members.
Korone and Pekora don't know who the fuck you are and never will. Gura isn't going to remember 3 million people, its not reasonable.
What's the point of watching a stream where the streamer will never reply to you or recognize your existence? At that point they're just a glorified podcast or shitty movie, which why not just watch an actually well planned out podcast where people actually have something decent to talk about.
