Read through the last thread, I kinda predicted more Kindred would start leaving and you can't really blame them if someone is being so different from how they used to be. Yeah it's obvious that it's RP but not everyone wants to do that EVERY single stream. I've already been seeing a lot of year-long Kindred leave from the ASMR thing so to see more leave because of this is saddening too. Personally I like the RP but I don't like how Vox is being coddled for something that he bought up on himself. He's the one that pandered hard to an ESL fanbase so that's what he's getting. Not even my words, I've seen CN Kindred point this out in his comments before.

As an outsider looking in (i.e. somebody who watches Vox mostly in the context of collabs, and the occasional solo stream), this whole situation is a bit puzzling to me. I can see what both sides are trying to say, but at the same time, none of it really makes much sense to me. I thought people loved Vox's focus on his lore and wanted him to get more out of it, and that fans were happy with all the cool kayfabe, but now it's too much and they don't want it? And then you have fans saying they're unhappy with the direction he's been taking lately and wanting to see more of the "real" him, but didn't that just lead to people crusading about how fans shouldn't want to get to know the real him, and that not showing too much of himself on stream is a good thing? It's all so confusing to me. I don't know, I'm just a neutral third party to this whole thing, this is only my observation.

not really a vox watcher but in situations like these everything gets mixed together when different people are bothered by different things. Some hate A, some hate B, some hate A and B. While others love A/B and hate C. Everyone is voicing their opinions, giving different reasons why they're disgruntled, wanting different solutions, and old feelings get dragged back causes some fans are still bothered by past choices their streamer decided on that they don't agree with.
situations like these suck cause everyone wants something different and you can't make anybody happy. about the only solution you can do as a streamer is find a solution that works for yourself, explain why you picked that solution, stick to your guns, and just accept not everyone will be happy.

I think it is mostly that the lore/RP is way less contained in very specific streams. I can't fault people, especially ESL fans, for being legitimately concerned during some of the RP that felt too real and being unsure whether they should just be enjoying it or concerned for his health and safety. The panic over thinking he forgot to end stream and was streaming his doctor's appointment live and might potentially leak sensitive personal information, for instance. Some sort of system of telling fans that it is part of the RP, or otherwise not real, even if it takes away a bit of the immersion, feels pretty reasonable. It doesn't have to be the eye thing. Some sort of symbol he could put on the screen on the fly if he's suddenly struck with inspiration would allow him to decide it mid stream if he doesn't want to disrupt his flow without giving a chunk of his fanbase a heart attack. As for wanting to see the real him, if he's sharing less candid stuff because he's in RP mode, I imagine some people miss that. The fandom isn't a monolith. Some people care a lot less about cool lore and a lot more about just having a comforting, silly stream and are upset they are getting less of that. It is literally impossible for him to make everyone happy, so the best he can do is come up with something that works for him, and hopefully also gives a good amount of his fanbase something to enjoy.

Not only fans, Vox himself as well. He did a whole song and dance about fans getting too personal for wondering if he's okay so I hope he isn't changing his tune on that now. Especially since it was reasonable to want to know if he was okay during that Canada trip; he said he was going to be gone for a few days and went for a whole week without a word, so people were rightfully concerned but he got angry instead and wrote off fans as being too needy or whatever wording he used. I love him but time and time again he keeps pushing away his own fans that have stuck with him through so much and he'll never realize it because he's always surrounded by so much hugboxing and coddling. And has the nerve to say in the end "don't baby me".

Time to wait for the zatsu stream so we can come to some kind of conclusion like always. I always hate the almost monthly screeching and back and forth we have to do when some people get too pissy about him changing something. It’s all valid but it keeps happening and it makes me tired. Back to reading berserk for me

We definitely will. I’ve really loved his streams since the movie and I hope he keeps doing what he clearly loves, with some warning for people that aren’t that ready yet. im always flip-flopping back and forth on the RP thing, most of the time i think kindred are overreacting and if you watch the majority of his current streams hes barely acting any differently. i think he already learned his lesson after the workout RP and he probably wont do RP on that level again. but i also dont appreciate how he lumps all kindred into one type, not to mention the RP content itself is pretty bland. either way he's bound to lose a lot of longtime fans, which really hurts, but maybe it's what he's aiming for.

I'm relieved he's addressed it but annoyed at how some Kindred are so thick they're still saying he hasn't 'addressed things in full'

I'm so on edge about this. On the one hand warning is enough even though I thought yellow eyes were a nice idea. He can do whatever the fuck he wants with his content even if it makes some people leave. On the other hand I felt like he was being too harsh about the worrying part. I hate concernfags as much as anyone else and I trust him to be able to take care of myself, to turn to his friends or family etc. But it isn't weird in any way to be genuinely worried about your oshi's health when something like his recent RP happens. "Even if something happens to me it doesn't affect your life in any way", that's just not true. Things like "it doesn't matter if it's real or not, the truth is what I tell you" are technically correct but I believe it all could be resolved without it feeling like he's shitting on a big part of his fanbase.

It is so weird to me that people don't understand that it is okay to move on when a content creator goes in a direction you don't like, or when you outgrow their content, or for any other reason. You don't have to still watch that MC YT that you started watching as a teenager 10 years later if you stopped caring about MC. You don't have to watch that vtuber whose ASMRs were the only thing you watched consistently now that he no longer does ASMR. Sometimes the changes are subtle and happen over time. Sometimes you wake up to an announcement that the guy you watch play JRPGs is now only going to play Apex effective immediately. It is fine, and normal, to move on to new hobbies or new content. It can hurt, especially if you put a lot of time into it, but it is healthy to move on rather than make yourself and everyone around you miserable. It isn't up to you to police content creators decisions, and trying to force them to change, or stay the same, rarely does any good, especially if they have made it clear they have made a decision. Let them do what they want to, for good or for ill, and find something else that makes you happy!

Never said it would be painless or easy, but if you are this invested, and this filled with negative emotions regarding the current situation, then you should at least consider stepping back so you can clear your head and not be putting what some dude on YT said above your own health and wellbeing.
