Those games only let you delete data for the game you're currently playing, and due to the way the PS1/PS2 handled save data it was extremely rare for a game to be able to see data for other games. You have to go into the console's home menu to manage save data for the whole card.

I can only assume it either bypasses something Sony added to block third party cards or the pins that connect the card to the system in the slim do not completely touch the third party card.
