Good thing IRyS's channel is link to the hololive english and En members channels because searching for it normally is terrible at the moment. Your best bet is to use [irys ch. hololive-en] but it'll take you until like the 66th link for the channel link to show up. If you search hololive irys in youtube search it's worst taking about 260+ before you even hit the channel link. Kind of lost track of the actual number after a while. Depends what you're looking for. For westerners, if you want to be moderately succesful and have fun just messing around with your branch whilst maybe eventually making enough money from streaming to pay the bills so long as you live modestly, Niji is the way to go. If you want to be as close to a household name as it's possible for a vtuber to be, get big sponsorships, collab with the biggest names in vtubing, reap the rewards of actually impressive fan content and you can handle the schizo fans, then Hololive is the way.

Personally if I were a vtuber, I'd prefer to be NijiEN big as opposed to HoloEN big, but it's personal preference.

I'd say it's more 99% misinformation to 1% truth, but if you're able to use moderate critical thinking, sometimes you can gleam aspects of the truth from the Chinese whipsers-esque rumours and rrats that get passed around, which gives this place the tiny amount of worth that it has. Vsingers aren't necessarily idols, they can succeed without idol culture. Look at Gorillaz for an example of a successful western Vsinger-like artist (well more of a Vband but close enough). There's also some demand for English covers of anime songs, so if they can embed themselves into that niche, they'll probably be decently successful. I'm not sure Cover has what it takes to be successful in the ways I mentioned, but it's not impossible.

No, Irys is a singer, not an idol (in Japan that usually is someone who has a cute voice but average singing).

There are already enough idols and variety streamers with average skills in hololive. Launching gen 2 would just add more to a saturated market unless they bring something unique. What hololive does not yet have is a unique knock-out singer. Their best would be like Gura and Suisei, but Gura lacks range (though perfectly suitable for lounge songs) while Suisei lacks smooth transitions (seen in, say, her cover of Pretender).
