People here like to portray Anycolor was comically evil with stuff like "they want the talents to feel like they're not worth anything", but it's important to remember that they're a company, and everything a company does is a wager between profitability and good will. Cover gives the talents their play buttons because it's a very good gesture of good will. Anycolor most likely has a more cynical attitute of "this is our IP, and so we'll have this big room with all of the buttons displayed so it looks good in investor meetings". I don't think it's any deeper than that. Just a souless corportation acting like one.
