Yeah this is true. On the other side of things, the bad part of JP is that it has worse drama people. The fun parts of EN are fan projects which are kind of distant form the Vtuber and is half the time focused on JP members. JP fans have more fan closer to the Vtuber.

The most tolerable HoloEN for me are currently FWMC (probably unsurprising), and they literally did the thing I wrote about. They took JP pill. They understand that this medium is still overwhelmingly Japanese and always will be, EN scene is just irrelevant in the big picture, no matter how you slice it it's usually not much more than reskinned twitch whores with a hint of (very shallow) otaku interests. EOPs are changing oshi like gloves now, most people who came because of Myth and were plenty cancerous already moved on, the current fanbase is getting worse and worse at a much faster rate than even chuubas themselves. 99% of good stuff in the medium is produced by JPs or people that are really into JP culture, apply massive amount of effort to learn more about it and to master the language, etc.

Can't agree about first 3 gens. I like Roboco, Matsuri, Aki, Ayame, others are by no means bad, just not someone I'd watch when other chuubas are streaming or there are good VODs to watch. Surprisingly HoloID is ok in my book. They do much less whining and much more working. Despite being the least popular branch they just go and do stuff, they are streaming, learning Japanese, doing their singing and dancing reps, thinking of their own events, bonding with EN and JP alike, they aren't stagnating. Holofes ID performances and ID3 3D showcases were really a treat to watch, in their guest appearances they also do well and don't half-ass it.

I honestly don't watch anyone from VSPO because I hate FPS, I like quite a few people from 774 (and Patra who went indie) and my dick definitely likes Mishiro from Noripro and her voice. It's true, JP scene is very saturated but you can just look for new JP chuubas and you'll find gems again and again, both in agencies and indie scene. Looking for a good EN chuuba is scraping the bottom of a barrel. All indies are on twitch and are mostly tainted by its culture, retarded chat, endless subathons, lewdtubing etc. EN corpos are minefields. Well your right that a lot of people just watched a few videos and then left, but it was first and what was inspired everyone. Also the Pewdiepie thing happened years after that. Vtubing didn't get popular in the west again until Hololive, staring with Matsuri, Fubuki, and Miko. It was a few months before 4th gen deputed.

I generally agree with the sentiment, I mostly watch the regloss girls these days, while tuning into the big daily holo stream or some VSPO girl every now and then.
I honestly think I just jive better with japanese otaku culture than I do western weeaboo culture, and I do think there's a difference. I also think you can't really bridge the cultural gap if you don't know the language, which is probably why the ENs I watch are FWMC, Irys, and Bae, though I don't watch Mori so maybe this theory of mine has holes.

Honestly, I like Fuwamoco's streams the most. I like Gura's streams too (when she streams). I like all of Advent's streams. I like all of holo promise's streams too. I find them funny and/or enjoy their content so I'll continue to watch them and say "fuck you" to anyone who says I shouldn't or can't like them. I'll like who I want to like. It doesn't matter what others think of me for who I watch, because I'm the one watching chuubas for entertainment for myself, not for others.
