It all depends on the age of the streamer. I will never watch Bae or anyone her age or younger because we can't relate on anything and she doesn't know anything that I know.
On the other hand Randon is the best streamer ever because he's an older guy with life experience, so we can relate on pretty much everything. It helps that I'm also a cyclist and camper.
Lastly, the cut off point for watching vtubers, for me, is when all of the older ones graduate. I'm not going to try to learn what a "phantom tax" is or what I do with a "gyat". When that's all that is left, I will know my time in the fandom has ended.

I'm over 10 years younger than you and I feel lost with some younger streamers, couldn't imagine how wide the gap must be for you. The twitch zoomer crowd is the biggest gap to me, streams with people like Filian are basically another world. Bae is kind of an exception too though, on top of being a zoomer she was very sheltered and disciplined as a kid so she shocks even her genmates with things she doesn't know.

You can be a vtuber at any age but in terms of banking it all on taking off as a full time streamer/video maker you really can't quit the day job on that one if you're like 25 or older, unless your responsibilities are seriously accounted for. Same with quitting/giving up at school (though people can be in education at any age). If you're in study, you over it to yourself to give it 100% and get the best grade you can without going insane.

I'm 61 and watch vtubers. I was in my 20s in the 80s and there was a small otaku scene back then. I just wish I was that age right now. We couldn't even have imagined the kind of stuff we're seeing nowadays, like vtubers, Miku, huge anime conventions outside of Japan, etc.
