Real talk: this has been bugging me since I heard this lore; did Gura have something to do with the breaking of Nerissa's horn over 9000 years ago? Did Nerissa visit Atlantis and did she have a hand in doing something to Gura's city with her voice?

Good to see you're still alive nerissashornbud. Now that you mention it Nerissa, as a demon of sound, has the power to make the world go mad with her singing. This is very reminiscent of Sirens who have that sort of control over passing sailors by luring and driving them to ruin. If we were the make the connection - singing, sirens, seafarers, ocean, Atlantis, you can start to see potential for some sort of conflict. We can't throw out the possibility that between these powerful cryptids, an epic battle MAY have taken place. It can also be noted that Gura is also known for her singing, and each would be well matched to hold their own, perhaps only walking away with a broken horn or couple of tail stitches.

Might as well try to have some fun during these times. Agree with the connection. I think Nerissa might have visited Atlantis before. A possible lore is that Nerissa might have been more villainous in the past. What if Nerissa preformed for Atlantis in the royal court and put them under a spell with her voice in order to rob them. Atlantis might of kept this balance with the dangers of the deep, always keeping their guard up and ready. And with everyone under Nerissa's spell Atlantis became defenseless--especially to larger beings like Krakens. Young Gura might have been able to resist Nerissa singing somehow and seeing her whole kingdom helpless, in a fit of desperation, was able to surprise Nerissa and break her horn, ending the spell. But by that time it was too late. The city was being overrun by the deep, Nerissa fled and young Gura was rushed out by the guards as top priority.

Atlantis still fell to outside forces but was weaken by an unforeseen factor, the timeline when Nerissa's horn was broken is explained, and Gura having a motive to become the type of idol she later becomes, using her voice has some bases.

It could be like a HP story. Where Gura was the girl who lived, with her talent in singing letting her survive. Maybe Nerissa had some innate respect for it and couldn't finish her off. And after losing her horn, Nerissa lost her memories or changed her personality completely. But if it were to be restored like the pick of destiny, she would revert to her former self. It's a bit contradictory for such a dark and edgy demon look to be paired with an amicable, sociable personality after all.
