Some people seem to get it, but others don't. Ame doesn't have insomnia. She's just a really bad sleep procrastinator. In other words, she would rather stay awake and spend hours watching YouTube videos or playing with her aquariums than have a decent sleep at a sensible time. We all do it to some extent. For people who doesn't speak spanish her but it's curious about her level, my feeling is that she's low intermediate. She could defend herself around a simple spanish conversation but struggling a bit.
For comparison, her spanish speaking skill is higher than JP English speaking skills, more vocab and can do more complex phrases (althrough she is dropping particles all the times which make her sound a bit robotic).
I wonder if her reading comprehension level is higher though, she probably learn spanish conversationally rather than studying it. In any case, some grinding of vocab would probably be enough for her to be serviceable.

I'm not Spanish, I didn't even take it in school. But her Spanish actually sounds quite impressive to my ears. Like, I was expecting something similar to JP levels of english (where they just repeat the same 10 words over and over again, and can't actually form a real sentence). As basic as it probably is, it's still surprised me. I hope some spanish speakers weren't actually expecting her to bust out fluent espanol or something.

I want to say she learned Spanish from a bilingual relative so they were probably pretty lax in trying to teach her and it didn't stick. But that's just my theory. My Spanish isn't perfect, but it's better than hers because my parents only spoke Spanish.
