the model has to be set up for ARkit blendshapes and most 3D ones aren't because they're primarily used for VRchat which doesn't need it. it takes about twelve hours to do the work (i do models) and a lot of vtubers won't bother paying for that extra work if it won't be used which makes sense. i'd love to see mouse do some 3D model streams though, since the linked one there's been huge improvements in the area so they're not as demanding on the system or as error-prone.

i won't get too far into it but it's because even though the iphone sends identical tracking data for both, they end different. live2D models use a separate mouth system based around open-closed shapes with an arkit add-on (vbridger) on top of it to give it the extra accuracy, 3D models output the mouth shape 1:1 and it's dependent on the model's quality/rigging to show that. so a good model will be extremely close and sometimes border uncanny, it's actually harder to get a 3D model to perform like a live2D one.

how to describe it... ugh i can't come up with a good analogy off the top of my head but because the base L2D system for mouths is different you can't get 3D to perform the same way because it calculates the movement differently. you can get something that looks great but it won't look like L2D because L2D is sort of pushing data into an existing shape to change the shape, 3D is replicating the data directly from tracking to model.
