The fact they managed to stick with what works and expand into an EN branch all made them pretty smart and savvy but I think funding helped them stick it out to do this re-orienting operation. Pippa is the only one in her niche. She's edgy, controversial and energetic. She isn't good at playing games nor is she good at singing. She is carried 100% by her personality and zatsu skill. Up to this point you can find someone who resembles her as a chuuba but you're still not going to replicate that ethereal quality she has.
You certainly can't "kill" Pippa, either because just like Gura she is sort of separate from her company. There's lots of chumbuds who only watch Gura and there's tons of capipis who don't watch any other vtubers, too. It's a bit of both. The VTuber market is too saturated to break out on good entertainer skills alone. Entertainer skills are like a college degree: It's required, but not enough on its own.
