Hello lads I've been encouraged to give Vtubing a try and after two 50/50 ideas I landed in one that I like much more than the others: a TV head.
Inspired by Echo by Crusher and by the grandson of a lady I know that actually got crushed to death by a CRT. Very rough sketch, given that I don't really know what to do with the body: a coat seems edgy, my favourite aviator jacket is too bland for an avatar, and a sleeveless shirt like robot head from Sexy and I know it looks funny.
I have some ideas as to what to do with the face, but I drew it on Procreate and haven't figured out how to make a CRT like filter for the screen, my main idea is to make pixelated eyes and eyebrows, no mouth because that's what the TV speakers are for.
The human body is based on Saxton Hale (because I had no other references) and partly on myself, because I have broad shoulders and my chest is hairy.
As for hardware, my PC is decent, I want to stream games I like and do what I think is a good idea: Wikipedia rabbitholes. Doing retro games should be VERY fitting, too, however I'm a zoomer and didn't play many games on consoles (save for some PS 1 and 2 ones), but I can, and will, try. The only issue I'm facing right now is upload speed, as we still have coaxial cable, but that would ironically be fitting for the CRT low res theme. I have plans to upgrade to at least 50 Mbps up so my house doesn't fucking explode.

What's your feedback? Is the idea decent? I know it'll be piss easy (compared to other avatars, of course) to Live2D.

Interesting fact about CyberLive

In the additional tweets:
"We are an agency not a group or team!
We offer everything creators could possibly need to succeed as VTuber. We left our contract so open because we truly feel like we offer our talents enough to willingly want to stay with us as well as we just want to treat our talent right."

"Once our new website goes live we will explain this more!

I just wanted everyone to know our stances before the big reveal tomorrow since especially because of recent events a lot of people feel unsure if they can trust agencies."

How should you split your attention during a collab? Would 65% to the other streamer and 35% to the chat be okay? I feel like obviously the other streamer should take priority, but ignoring chat too much would make people leave the stream.

Also a similar question regarding watchalongs: How much should a streamer talk during a movie?

If your collab premise is entertaining, you have a good back and forth with your partner, and you don't let the collab drag on you won't need to read chat at all except for if there is some sort of unavoidable downtime. You need to use a different skillset to entertain during a collab than you do in a solo stream, be ready to "yes and"

>> No.5948008

>>5947780
>How should you split your attention during a collab?
I think the chat understands that a collab is going to be different than a regular solo stream. Your guest should take FULL priority and only when they aren't talking or taking a break should you talk to the chat. While he isn't a vtuber, Bruce Greene was the prime example of why you shouldn't talk to the chat during a collab stream. He would do live podcasts with people like Criken and Lawrence Sonntag and as they were in the middle of fucking talking he would mute himself to them and talk over them to his chat like it was a solo stream. His streams are borderline un-listenable thanks to this.

I think it's okay to pick something from chat during collaboration and make quick comment if chat just commenting conversation between 2 streamers without acting like they're the 3rd person in the conversation. For example chat spams same emote or simple frazes like yep/cute comment say something like haha don't tease me chat and move on. If somebody will try to put themselves into conversation though donating that's would good manners to comment it but make it fast/simple.

You know CGP Gray? That's what you voice vibes like, serious. Unless you're trying to play some character that doesn't go well with that voice, or one that goes well with the exact opposite, you'll probably fall into uncanny valley.
However your voice has great potential, what about your expressions? How can you act and pull of different moods? That's worth easily more than half the value of a character (I've seen several theatre actors with voices not as appealing as yours but with EXCELLENT skills that made you believe everything they say, and vice versa). What are you recording those vocaroos on? Got a microphone or just doing it straight on your phone? I don't know if vocaroo fucks up your file, but sounds a little bit muddy and as if the mid/high frequencies are toned down a lot.

Honestly you can do that character pretty well just by tensing your voice and trying to sound a little more scuffed - think Jon Bernthal in The Punisher. Something like this: https://voca.ro/1hkxOLzMPt4O I'm ESL and have a higher pitch voice, but you'd be able to pull it off much more convincingly and with ease.

It's not that different but it's getting there, Rome wasn't built in a day chap. You have to force your voice frequently to be able to get it to make the one you want consistently. Keep in mind that maintaining a raspy voice for 1+ hours (average stream) will take a toll on your vocal cords and you'll feel like you caught a cold.
Try to look up voice EQ tutorials, like Alex Knickerbocker's https://youtu.be/ibxVti6i2K0
The mic you're using is pretty good, to be honest, but it needs a little bit of tweaking to sound "fresher", specially boosting a little bit the higher frequencies of your voice and reducing the resonance (it's easier to do it with software than to change your room lol).

The character's concept looks great, but as >>5964436 pointed out, you'd want to have a little bit more detail on the upper torso/face. I don't know if it was your goal, but having it use sunglasses makes it easier to Live2D.

I'm thinking for males, but the pomu interview from that clip, she said it was just her giving a quick 30 second intro, talking about why she loves Nijisanji for like a minute and who she was a fan of, and then a bunch of clips of her existing character at the time (maid mint)
I don't know if that only worked because she was one of the top EN streamers at the time
but at least it shows the traditional idol interviews aren't necessarily what they're looking for

the only thing that makes me question is the prompt explicitly says a quick intro and then streaming in character as a character from your imagination, which makes it seem more like they want a 5 minute preview stream to see how well you can roleplay vs wanting to see a bunch of clippable moments you had that went viral

You'll have all the problems that standard streamers do in gaining viewers, but you'll also have the 'shackle' of not aiming to grow, so you'll perhaps be at a disadvantage. you can make friends but they might be pretty superficial
it's important if you want to make friends to keep a little bit of distance from some drama since the discords, even the ones the people from here and wvt are in attract drama like nobody's business
join groups, make friends, but be aware when people are just talking shit and causing drama, and try to stay above it a bit, it's easy to get sucked into some 20 viewer vtuber's rant about someone who has 100 viewers who didn't raid them or whatever
