I was gonna complain more but fuck it, fair. I think people overreact to how bad this model update was, I'd consider it a downgrade and think the original was better but this is only slightly worse, were it not for it being too bright and her somehow also looking devoid of color at points then I think people would be a lot more open to it. But I'd still say this is way better than other model changes, there are so many "updates" that completely change the character and I think people saying this was a horrible update don't know how bad a model change can really be.

Eye of the beholder. That's all it comes down to. What is only slightly worse and way better to you may not be so for others. For me, old Fubuki will always be the better model any day and I think the new model is a major downgrade in every way conceivable, to the point I couldn't keep watching her.
With that said, if they were to adjust it and tone down the brightness on her model, maybe give it the same skin color as her old model, it might be better but as it is I can't even see her nose at times which is just fucking weird and unsettling. Oh and give her tongue some more color too.

A few minor changes being worse just doesn't make me want to shit myself in disgust, I find the facelift fine even if the nose is nonexistent because I barely saw her nose before in the first place, I agree that the tounge needs more color but all that needs is a minor model update and everything would look way better. To me a reaction like this comes if the model is completely ruined and I just don't see that here, if Irys's 2.0 was her first model and they upgraded it to the 1.0 then I would get people shitting on it this much but I don't think this is on the same level as that hypothetical. The new model looks a lot better on a black background than on a white one though. The lack of a clear outline, makes her blend too much in with brighter backgrounds. The same thing happens in her face, the moth and eyes just blend in too much with the skin color. I also preferred the longer bangs of the old model, they made her look more wild/unkempt in her appearance. Likewise, her older eyes were more distinct and helped her stand out in a sea of same-faced anime girls whereas the new ones are more generic.
The real sin however, is the loss of her alternate outfits. Servant Fubuki might just be my favorite vtuber outfit period.

For me it's the eyes.The old model has this sort of lively playful feel to them that still felt intelligent. The new eyes just sort of lack that to me. I think it's the thickness of the eyelashes that makes the shape feel a little different, and the eyebrows blending in much more with the bangs. And while I normally like more saturated colors, I think the more muted tones fit Foobs really well.
