I can't see Apex as anything but the burnt out idol's game. Matsuri playing it for weeks at a time gave me that impression. Sure it might be fun but every day for weeks? What happened to her idol dream?

The others that play as often fall in the same trap where it feels like pointless empty content just to meet their weekly quota. At least Minecraft has some storylines that might develop from it and leave their mark on the server.

In fairness it's gotten worse since Hololive started so it's not like it was intended. Hell Capcom just released new streaming guidelines for their games just before the new year.
Plus all companies are run by old fossils who don't understand streaming. See Nintendo.

Undergrads was great. Are there any contemporary "adult"-oriented animated series of similar quality these days?
What happened to stuff like this and Mission Hill? Cynicism became too popular and isn't allowed to be funny anymore?

They stream it a lot for 2 reasons:
1. It's the one game that gets spammed by everyone that doesn't result in a large viewership debuff because a lot of people like watching it because of the chance of unplanned collabs.
2. The youtube algorithm loves minecraft content and it gets them a lot of new viewers.

Also, a lot of them legitimacy enjoy playing minecraft all day like Flare. If you don't like the content you should probably find other vtubers to watch instead of being a butthurt faggot.

Say what you will about Minecraft, but it really is an endless source of content. Xisuma is an absolute chad but I don't know where he gets the motivation to make 984 episodes of Hermitcraft content, host seven seasons of Hermitcraft, and STILL make Minecraft update news videos where he explores new content before it's released.
No holo will ever come close to Hermitcraft in general, desu.

I enjoy the Minecraft streams. They offer a good chance at sudden collabs and interactions and at worst are just comfy chat streams. And between things like prank wars, construction companies, and independent projects there is enough stuff happening to keep if fun.

>you see as a company they cant just stream any video game without permission
This has to be just a Japan thing because I've never heard of this shit being the case in the US. Especially since they always get permission from US companies to stream their games easier.

>> No.615199

>>592408
The issue is at some point it stops being about the game and more about the streamer using the game as a springboard to have a podcast. Much like NorthernLion and Binding of Isaac.

>This has to be just a Japan thing because I've never heard of this shit being the case in the US
No, it's a US thing to. Very few studios actually give you permission to upload videos / stream your game and they usually come with restrictions like noncommericial use. Notable ones that do are Minecraft and games by Valve. You have to be careful because some companies like Nintendo will put out a acceptable use policy or some nonsense, but that does not actually give you a license to stream their game. It is just Nintendo saying that they won't send a takdown notice or sue you if you follow them. Despite streaming often being a positive thing to the sales of a game, game studios still have not licensed out the ability to do so in the game's EULAs. Most video game streams are infringing the game owner's copyright.
A site knowingly streaming a pirated anime episode is no different than a site streaming someone playing a Mario game. A site knowingly distributing pirated anime is no different than a site distributing a stream of someone playing a Mario game. It's a little surprising that sites like Twitch have not been sued out of existence because they knowingly stream content that infringes game studio's copyright.

The USA doesn't have big streaming companies who can pay out a decent sum if sued for copyright. Once VShojo gets its head out of its ass and actually produces good content, you'll see their girls being a bit more discerning with what they stream.

>It's a little surprising that sites like Twitch have not been sued out of existence because they knowingly stream content that infringes game studio's copyright.
Because most (though clearly not enough) studios seem to have gotten the clue that a stream doesn't automatically equal lost sales and in many cases drum up hype to make people want to buy the game (something that Bamco is actually pretty good at with letting streamers play up to a certain point with advance copies).

There's also the fact that twitch actually has some of the best lawyers in the world backing it so they have a ton of legal protection, and they're backed by daddy Bezos's money which is capable of outright buying the companies trying to sue them.

Things change when the streamers are employed by a company that takes a cut from every dollar they make - it becomes a corporation profiting from another corporation's work without paying for it. Expect it to hit western Vtuber companies as they grow and expand.
