That theory actually got debunked and not true at all. Origins of people in maritime southeast asia came from Austronesian people from Formosa Island (Taiwan today). They first settled in the Philippines for a couple of years before they colonized other parts of maritime southeast asia. Malay people are also came from Austronesian people. Malay people are those Austronesian people that settled first from the Philippines before they became Malay when they settled in either malaysia and indonesia. Also malay people didn't actually migrated completely in the Philippines. They only migrated on some small islands in the southern part of the Philippines and not in any mainland islands of the archipelago. The rest of the Philippines remain Austronesians until Spanish came and Filipino language came from local native language which is Tagalog and Tagalog came from Ancient Filipino Austronesian language and not from Malay.
