The economy has simply changed, so being a streamer is the 'realest' job you can have in the context of a society where a streamer is performing a service for you as well as simulating the social ties humans need to generally stay sane, creating essentially a 'club' for people starved for connections in which they can be 'fans' of pewdiepie or other streamers.

The entire economy is based on the idea that more money will be created and that money will frequently change hands.
