FOR DUMMIES AND FAGS

This is the early access Japanese-only version of Cover's own social network, which you can install on Android, in order to try it out and reserve your username, even if the official English release is still in the works. iPhone users get the rope

NOTE: the app is in Japanese, so you will need some basic language proficiency and/or a second phone with Google Translate in camera mode.

WARNING: the search results for "Holoplus apk" and "Aurora Store" on Google are riddled with malware. This method avoids both.

1. Install F-Droid, the well-known open source software repository, from f-froid.org
2. Use F-Droid to install Aurora Store. The only permission it needs is to install other apps, you can ignore the rest.
3. Install a VPN with servers in Japan. If you are technically inclined, I recommend the free VPN Gate servers offered by the University of Tsukuba www.vpngate.net Otherwise, Proton VPN on the Play Store currently has JP servers in its free tier. Whichever you use, make sure to remove the "Always on" option in the system settings, or you won't be able to turn it off.
4. Activate the VPN and confirm that you appear to be in Japan, using ipinfo.io or any such website.
5. Open Aurora Store, login using the Anonymous option (important!), search for "holoplus" (picrel) and install it. If you get "API rate-limited" errors, logout from Aurora and request a new anonymous session. If you cannot find holoplus in the search results, your VPN is not working.
6. Open ホロプラス, register an account using your Google or Apple login that you intend to use for it, and enjoy! I completed my registration while still connected to the VPN, just in case, but it seems to work even without.

No, don't make an account, it will region-lock you and hide the app from the store. You have to use an anonymous account and do it inside the VPN. Just try again, Accounts > Logout, then Anonymous login. After a few tries it works.

I got the same problem as the other anon. The "condition:normal" error message is when you login inside the holoplus after it’s already installed. You just can’t login with your google account.

I got past this somehow, but now I’m in an infinite loading on first login at the "3/5" step after choosing my oshis.
