The human male brain is geared towards fighting.
We can fight each other even on barebones abstractions, like footsies.
We will fight each other in any possible way at ever possible time.

Females are not as combat oriented, yet a few times they do have to engage in combat, such combat would only occur on 3D spaces, so the female brain only activates the combat mode in 3 dimension fighters. This is why fighting games are only truly fun for them if they have 3dimensional rotation, and why also women like soul calibur.
