I'm just looking at some of these newer agencies like Kawaii and Phase Connect and it really makes me realize how little Prism is actually doing to make themselves known. I know chat isn't necessarily a good indicator of viewership, but there is very little overlap in at least the commenters between prism, kawaii, phase connect, and for that matter tsunderia. These companies should do like Tsunderia and Prism, and work together to expand their audience.

Oh that's not a knock on anyone in Phase, least of all her. I'm just extremely skeptical. The simple fact is that it takes more than pure talent to hold an audience without the Hololive/Nijisanji name. Miori and Aoi are both top tier vocalists and instrumentalists as well (better than most in Hololive imho), but they don't get anywhere near the views they deserve despite that. If all it took was YouTube ads to make the difference, maybe Tsunderia and Prism should stop fucking around with new generations and just pour everything into ads to grow the name first, but that seems too easy to really work long-term

It's not good to start comparing, especially this early. You never know what kind of people are applying and you never know what Cover/Anycolor actually wants, since it isn't always raw specs or talent.

Hololive is such a big name that you can't just point to the numbers alone of anyone past Gamers as proof of talent or ability. Niji wave 2 almost certainly only had 2 free spots, I'd bet anything Tsunderia rat is already occupying one of them. There's a whole sea of talented low view indies and small company vtubers for only 2 spots so it probably just worked out someone else got them, they could still try applying for Wave 3 which just opened. Holo EN is almost certainly looking for big names, people with extensive streaming experience, or very talented people that might not even be streamer.

I think Anya from Holo ID is the best test case. I have nothing against Anya and watch her sometimes but objectively she's probably the worst case scenario for a Hololive hire. No vtubing (or probably streaming) experience, bad singer, no drawing ability, not particularly good at any games, plays mostly debuff games, hasn't even played Minecraft once, heavy accent and often resorts to using Indonesian in collabs. I don't make a habit of watching debut streams but I caught another company's debuts and 5 of 7 sounded like they were about to die from nervousness and I'm almost shock there were no panic attacks. They spend a ton of time preparing, for corps it's often months, all leading up to that moment. It'd be unusual to not be nervous.
All of those debuts were handled fine by the talents really, nervousness didn't really lead to any fuckups and they could keep talking. As far as messy debuts I've seen they barely rate, connection issues aside.
