You will start to understand why books you find interesting are interesting. After you have a basic grasp of the basics and are still interested in getting deeper should you start with the greeks. Start forming your own opinions and drawing conclusions with the knowledge you built up on easier material.

tl;dr telling people to read the greeks is the best way to turn someone into "i don't like reading" kind of person. Read shit you like instead and progress from there.
