Besides the twins, they look like genshit designs. Most other members of hololive, specifically en have very diverse color choices and a strong visual theme. Here its just monochrome bleh with these ones. There's no soul, they feel factory made almost. The twins are great though, looking forward to them.

They are competently designed but they just lack something that the typical Hololive designs do. I could easily remember every other Holo's design after seeing them for the first time, because they were unique and memorable, but I actually can't envision these ones after looking at them for a time. I think the theme might just suck this time.

Their designs are similar, they aren't memorable standing next to each other. But if the older gens collaborate with them where their designs will stand out the older gens are going to bleed numbers and donos to them like when niji started to inflate to this amount of gens. Meanwhile en vtuber fans reduce their watchtime around summer and donate much less so it might be far more competitive. Great as a concept, but I'm not sure this was a good time to introduce them now.

My only issue is that we have 2 black hair (or 1.5 if you want to argue about it). Kinda misses someone with vibrant red or similar to balance out the color palette.

I have to agree. Good designs should have a few iconic recognizable points to focus on and have the rest of the outfit be supporting that. Everyone can instantly remember and draw someone like Gura or Pekora from memory. When you see some drawing of Ina in some alt outfit, it is instantly recognizable as her because she has very distinct points in her hair.

These designs just have way too much going on, and don't really have anything that immediately jumps out at you as defining. The twins will be okay because the pink/blue duality and the fact that there's always two of them. Shiori has a somewhat unique eyes and mouth, but it's not great. Ravencroft and the loli are the biggest offenders, they just look incredibly generic.
