I've been listening to a lot of Vesperbell after they kept appearing in my recs. But just who are they? They're able to commission really good artists to do their artwork for their videos. They're all also quite good and able to maintain a consistent feed of covers. Not just simple covers too. A music video plus performing really well. Never heard of them nor seen their members before, but they seem high profile.

They're owned by the same company who also owns KMNZ, and also operate the Reality app, hence why they have a bunch of duet covers between those two groups and they both stream on reality on occasion. They likely were scouted or applied, not just a grass roots thing like some of the smaller acts we talk about here. They're both great singers, though, and it's kind of a shame that they've only put out covers for so long even if they're finally putting out a new single in the very near future to celebrate their anniversary.

I like Lofi is sort of a descriptor of what it's not, moreso then what it is. It's not a complex arrange with a bunch of instruments, nor particularly high energy. It's just music that's supposed to be simple and work well as background by not needing much attention mentally parse it. As to why exactly that got the name low fidelity, I blame all those Youtube channels that streamed it 24/7 at a quality that wasn't damaged by you dropping the stream to 180p.
