What if your general was not just a general but a nation, devoted to your oshi and their will? Enter this general where the fanbases and generals of /vt/ are reimagined as rival nations fighting bitter battles or beginning wholesome friendships for the glory of their oshis.

Normally, saplings would go gravitate back to their home with other saplings. In the case of the space setting, assuming any amount of their hive was left, that's where they would go, even if it meant trying to cross vast amounts of space to do it.
That's not to say saplings wouldn't ever leave /uuu/ though. Any individual sapling could have any number of reasons to relocate. Anything from relationships, curiosity, banishment, etc. But these would be individual reasons. For a whole group of saplings to leave /uuu/ or their hive would take some very special circumstances indeed.
Perhaps they had strong reason to believe that their hive was completely destroyed. Or maybe something happened to them and they thought their hive wouldn't be safe if they went back. Or possibly they felt a collective great debt to something or someone and saw the need to repay it before going back home.

Those are some of the angles I'd have come at it from.

Ohh I see, this is great! Thank you! This gives me a much better idea of the fate of the hive than I had before. Perhaps the "Rapture War" is named more literally than I thought, instead of just being a reference to the Bioshock stream, and Ailbhe&Co are those left behind... I'll do justice to the will of a sapling to return to the home.

I haven't looked into your space hive, but certain areas could be overexposed to solar flares, requiring maintenance, or if anyone uses solar energy (i.e. photosynthesis) there'd be a shortage due to shorter days.
If there are any coexisting organisms, they might be subject to migration, or seasonal growth/pests.

So now that summer is here, what's the next cope we'll create for why the thread is dead?

>> No.52304514

>>52302851
No need for copes, I think the reasons for it can fairly easily be grasped. Most of the participants have stopped writing for one reason or another, and it's currently not engaging enough to write. You really gotta just want to write for its own sake to write for /vtwbg/ at the moment.
Anons also don't tend to randomly go into unfamiliar long-running generals unless prompted in some way, so the amount of people joining in will be very limited.
I think early vtwbg probably benefitted from some gameified aspects of the project drawing in people, with stuff like choosing where your country is and striking deals with others, to encourage participation.
There's probably a game design analysis to do to figure out the things that would draw in more participants. And also a bit of marketing research to figure out how to effectively present the project to new potential worldbuilders. The former should be done before the latter.

>> No.52304739

>>52304514
I think the catalog going to shit also made people who are not rootless shitposters go and visit other threads less. The board is not healthy now and makes sense the threads are also not doing that well. But the setting itself being kinda impenetrable is hard to fix since so much has already been written. Divegrass has been pretty good in promoting the thread but it has limited reach (like you won't expect the drama tourists to actually know it's a thing much less smart enough to find out how to watch it.) The simple solution is to have another round of invites but yeah it is a bit of a predicament.

>> No.52305025

>>52304739
Yeah, /nasfaqg/ is also struggling a fair bit (even when Honk isn't MIA) and generally small generals mostly feel like they're slower than they used to be, with more bait pushing them off page 1.
While that's a factor, I do think the impenetrability is the bigger issue for us, or at least it's the one we could potentially do something about. What can we do to make it so that an anon wandering in thinks "wow, I should add something to this project now" instead of "damn all this autism is very impressive/autistic".

>> No.52305144

>>52305025 (me)
Once we find a good answer to that question is when a round of invites might be fruitful, I think.
The game was very successful at encouraging more discussion for a while, but obviously that's a fairly work-intensive side project shouldered by one anon, so it would be a big burden for him for us to rely only on that.

>> No.52305275

>>52305025
We have made some efforts in that direction though with the different documents. But the best comparison of similar things on the board, between the thread and say /vt/ tower is that the latter doesn't require any real prior knowledge to post there. Therein lies the problem. As the project expanded in scope it makes sense that more and more is gonna become canon and restrict what people can write.

>>52305144
Mayyyyybe something like the EraAfter? Sort of like themed events where people can just submit whatever. Like say we let anons write whatever based on say what would happen to Vitubia when the final yab happens (also to capitalize on the general doom and gloom atmosphere of the board). But then it is sort of just our own spinoff /vt/ tower thread.

>> No.52306392

>>52305275
Open writing prompts, basically? That could be fun. The 40k AU is designed to not put growing canon restrictions on writers, but again putting no restrictions doesn't seem to be enough of a hook.
/vt/ tower also has elements of RP, those have helped foster discussions in /vtwbg/ in the past, though they've also caused misunderstandings, maybe that's something we could use as well?

this is definitly a big factor, those that have a home rarely leave it anymore because there is not much worth to it anymore in their eyes. it is hard to gather new people in any general at all.
>>52305275
while we did try to make some documennts, we never even put the tourist guide to nations in the OP,
our archive is bloated and expecting anyone to find anythign there is a folly. we are way past the point of "do your reps" in terms of written material
>>52306392
i don't think the RP aspect is necessarily bad and in fact interactions done so can be inspiriration for writing itself.
the big issue is when people shitpost while RP'ing towards new people that don't understand stuff yet and dont know its a shitpost and will take it at face value. we all know what disaster that leads to

i also think we simply need more stuff again that can simply be discussed on a simpler level that people can join in more easily. i am not talking about some high intellectuellevel talks like what the deadbeat does half the time but rather more like the bits we had about a potential /horni/ nation. a casual discussion with no stakes that anyone can just dip in and give their take. that way if people DO come in annd see the thread, they actually got something to engage with

>> No.52313128

>>52312205
We keep saying the archive is bloated, but I'm not sure what could be done about it. We're not gonna just start deleting stuff obviously. Can we reorganize it so it's not as scary somehow?

>> No.52313422

>>52312205
I think a concentrated effort to "fill up" the map also helped with lore in the beginning since there was a real need to make the world big and full.
Those Matsurisu lore scraps did get a bit of engagement but that's half because of Matsuri having a great ass and a hot model. Maybe having an anchor that asks what's going on or a kind of international bulletin for random one off posts could encourage smaller engagements.

>> No.52313569

>>52313422
>Maybe having an anchor that asks what's going on or a kind of international bulletin for random one off posts could encourage smaller engagements.
Oh, that's not a bad idea. We kind of do that naturally whenever something happens that will make the catalog speed up, but formalizing it as a way to contribute could be nice. Maybe the events anchored there could then be compiled to a rentry and archived, this way if nothing else we're archiving notable events happening on the board. Let's do a prototype.

On stream death is just a myth, plus nobody has the right story, was it a shoot out or a car crash? That weird ai blob is the wrong model too, who made that thread?

Do many generals get backed by a janny? We sure could use one in mine... I can bug you if you want. Do saplings wear clothes made of fabric or plants? Are there any gold apples?

lemme repost my aspeothesis idea oce mor esinnce last thread died due to a certain someonne baking moldy bread:

instead of it being straight up a mortal ascending to godhood, have it instead be a mortal going through a process to recreate a new them while the mortal actually still stays behind.

since the person behind the avatar still technicly is the same as before while the vtuber itself as character is the godlike entity

got this idea from talking with actual aspies and partly even with a bit of brainstorming from them

Armilla’s further away from the host star so it receives a bit less than ¾ energy Earth receives from the Sun. It might also be a bit more reflective than Earth due to constant cloud formation near the substellar point so its greenhouse effect has to be stronger than it’s currently on Earth (about 2~2.5x according to some random site) both due to water vapor (mostly on the bright side) and CO2 around the globe. I imagine the high CO2 level might be a deliberate result of terraforming to facilitate photosynthesis (and thus make sure the whole ecosystem doesn’t suffocate even when shipment’s late). The planet also has no dry land so icecap is also harder to form
I’ll work on that later but the strong greenhouse effect and lack of landscape means the planet’s weather is probably pretty stable/boring. The dark side will be cold (but not freezing) and cloudless (and thus rainless) as there’s no sunlight to make water evaporate. The region around the antistellar point’s probably calm while the rest of the dark hemisphere should have relatively light breeze (although it could still be pretty strong since there’s no land to block the wind). Overall it’ll be a mostly calm sea under a cloudless, starry sky. Lights from vessels/cities (the two are synonymous on Armilla) and the occasional bio-fluorescent life will make the dark water like night sky too… things like that are why Armilla’s a popular tourist destination! It also helps that you can actually breathe the air and not freeze to death
The light side will be windy and rainy since there’s sunlight and thus water cycle. Rain’s probably a common feature between the twilight zone and the pupil vortex (which is half of the reason for its subtitle). The closer you get to the substellar point, the stronger the wind and the thicker the cloud until you reach the permanent vortex. I think most cities will maintain a somewhat high latitude so that they won’t ever get too close to the pupil hurricane but there are always daredevils
Armilla has a lot of water but it also has surface gravity and atmosphere so I think places that need water import will opt for icy asteroids and comets instead. I think the thick atmosphere might make going from Armilla to other worlds relatively difficult so its exports will be mostly luxury (like from the exotic native life) or incorporeal (like cultural goods, which is the other half of the reason for its subtitle)
