I'm happy for both of them because they are great companies with a good track record so far, led by great CEO's and with wonderful talents.
They have good strategies to grow and are steadily achieving greater success.
idol and Phase Connect are my two favorite vtuber companies and I believe they represent the best vtubers have to offer, for the most part at least.
Their growth rates and strategies are different and that's ok. They are each taking their own path upwards.
Comparing them on only one specific aspect is pretty pointless, as is trying to be tribalist between them.
Phase Connect is older, it has more members plus Pippa. idol is newer, the EN gens debuted more recently, they have more ads, vtuber shilling and marketing at conventions.
What I really like about both companies is that they embody a sense of freedom, CGDCT and love for their fans. Both companies let them get away with a lot of content and have many girls that really show a lot of love for their fans.
It doesn't matter which number is higher at any given time what matters is that small corpos are becoming less small.

Fuyo is just inferior Yuko- down to voice and content quality. Pochi is DOA and Juna is… weird. She’s GFE but collabs with m*les and that in itself is pretty retarded. Can’t keep flip-flopping between the two. With the newly debuted ENs, they still have a few months to get settled in. Roca is incredibly promising as a VSinger though, she mogs even Miori Celesta. With the Phase talents, they all have a niche that they’ve grown into over the time they’ve spent streaming and it isn’t just uoh cute and funny I peed my pants bullshit or JUST GFE. Aside from the obvious ones you have Airi who is very comfy clumsy and airhead OL that you want to protect, and there’s Jelly who plays autism games and does music. I don't know much about phase honestly. Idol for me came at a perfect time when Hololive seemingly shot itself in the foot with Tempus and overall just falling apart at every seam. I'm not going to sit here and say you're wrong. However with what Idol has been doing lately makes me believe they can grow. New gen looks promising and they seem very close.
