I think it's the latter, but the former would be good to know for making characters.

To be fair their tails basically ensure that they have to go pantless whenever they wear clothes not designed for them. If anything it makes the usual miniskirt female uniform more modest for them since at least there’s a skirt to cover their butt (although there’s still the eternal question of giving miniskirts to female on space ships where microgravity’s expected at least from time to time)
They do! It’s a naming scheme that I’ve been using for the main setting too so it’s good continuity (and since the first generation of them were raised by an unequipped computer, it’s either dictionary naming or number naming and the latter’s a bit too depressing even for me)
“Narim” as her name’s most definitely a joke and although I like to keep things open for interpretation, in this case it’s the former rather than the latter since she probably doesn’t view the officers too highly, if she gives herself a name on that spot based on the uniform, it would probably be some kinda swear word (which I also invented one because you can’t have pulp sci-fi without fancy future words) or slang, and she’s definitely not going to make (you) call her that
The content of the jars doesn’t matter so it’s left ambiguous. It’s actually a Starsector reference where they’re a… very profitable cargo as long as you don’t get searched by customs. Maybe that’s how this ship’s crew keep themselves afloat. I guess that could also make readers feel better about their gruesome fate?
MacGuffin’s always fun! Part of me also likes it when its nature’s never actually revealed and people have to guess based on how others react to it. I would say I want to have dreams where I explore my own world but most of them are pretty depressing

As for the space pod I thought about different ways for them to travel from one part of the ship to others. I originally wanted them to find 1 (one) space suit and have to carry the other through the void but the duration would be too short for my plan (hence the box), but suiting up would also take too long (even with the hokey pokey) so I ended up giving them a space pod

That might not actually be very visible since the main advantage of charged particle weapon’s that it can kill organic components of a ship i.e. the crew without causing a lot of damage to the rest of the ship. Maybe I can fit some secondary damage from that instead

Thanks! Technical is my area of comfort, this piece was a nice way to ease back into writing a narrative after a few months of only writing technobabble. The piece on AI-powered mechs vnuggets use was what got me thinking about this control system in the first place, I want to set it up as somewhat mirroring it, or at least having some parallels. For example, the mind of the crab shoulders the burden of the sensory overload similarly to how the AI does. This way they are internally consistent as existing in the same universe

The Himegwyn was built in order to work alongside those traditionalist who refused to rely entirely upon their firearms due to views that firearms were the less honest weapons and had no air of chivalry to them. This spurred weapon smiths into creating a series of weapons intended to be used in concert with enhanced melee and standard lunaito armor, designed so that both sword can be wielded at once when the situation requires.
Any possible additions to this weapon? I'll be finishing Hime Dominatus doc soon methinks but would like an air of technicality before I enter the sphere of techno jargon

In terms of ammunition, I've considered having it be something like peppermint laced cylinders packed with pixiedust. Don't want to rely too much on the bolter for it but my imagination sees a similarly bulky design with only a little less power, they might have armor penetrating qualities as well but that seems more likely to be a variant rather than the base.
NRP is suppose to refer to the arms maker, Naa Royal Protectorate being a company in the Himedom which might get more lore in the future. The name Himegwyn is more of a quick important sounding name derived from Arthurian knights and shit but it is probably the name of a Hime Vessel or a Hime Vessel's family line.
