Hololive avatars have very shitty rigging, and most of the girls do not care about roleplaying their persona. Clearly, people are watching vtubers because of their personality, not because of their characters DeEp LoRe so what's the point of having an avatar in the first place then?

1) Ugly girls can still become idols, as long as their voice is good, so more talent to choose from.
2) Protection from harassment, since only management and other girls know their faces/identities.
3) The talents can still date and get married.
4) Merch/branding is easier.
5) The target demo (lonely males with no families and hence lots of disposable income) are usually disillusioned with modern women IRL, and would rather fall in love with a 2D fantasy. A VTuber is the closest they'll get.

If the pictures I've seen are to be believed, Gura and Kiara have the hottest roommates by far. Cali and Ame's are a bit above average. The one picture I saw of Inas was... as average as it gets.
