I would suggest keeping your hopes low for any current vtubers, seeing as only Ame and Gura were former chuubas before they got picked and even then, just barely. Polka was also another, but the whole vtuber -> Hololive vtuber pipeline is more an exception than the rule. Expect more hidden gems and lurkers than anyone actually streaming.

Polka isn't the only gokisei member with a past life. 2-3 of them were chuubas (I'm not up to date on Lamy roommate narratives), one was an utaite with an anime avatar who did streams and another one performed on stage and voiced an idol character in a game. They don't have to be vtubers but they need to produce content related to otaku culture somehow. Thing is, weebs who produce content all started jumping on the vtubing train after EN debuts. People who are likely to audition now were also likely to get a model recently if they didn't already have one.
