Yep, they just talk about anime that is trending on twitter (now is oshi no ko). When they pick a game, again only FOTM ones. The companies are also to blame. If you are in niji, you must know who Mito is....and if you are in holo it must be a crime not knowing who Marine is.
Lets face it, they are so ugly IRL that they need the anime avatar.

The vtuber community is no longer small, unified and singular.
That has grown and branched out.
What you consider "vtuber culture" still exists, in the same place it was before, but now there are other things outside of that zone that are also tecnically "vtubers".
The single unified vtuber culture that was universal in the past is no longer a thing, but that type of culture still exists, it just became a sub niche within the new overall vtuber culture which is much wider and includes many different types of vtubers.
