What’s the best way to get into and improve at digital art? I’d basically be starting from scratch…

1. Practise on paper first before wasting money on expensive equipment. (unless you already did that.)
2. Tracing is actually decent practise for the beginning. Go google "deviantart shrimp method" I'm too lazy to dig it up, but it's a solid method. Just don't post traced art. It's just for practise.
3. You can also learn a lot just from watching speedpaints from good artists and thinking abour how they aproach things, and maybe even copy that.
4. /ic/ has a shitton of great resources in the sticky. check out the sticky. do not browse that board at all. Ignore anything but the sticky resources.
5. be patient with yourself. the improvement never ends and is constant, even if you don't see it.

I actually agree with the color thing, but I can't help but still like how the design looks even tho it's loaded with different colors. But in the cleaned up version (not visible here) I did make it so the jacket and bow have the same color.

Also I don't have a specific outfit type I'm going for, it's just a sukumizu, skirt and hoodie jacket after all. All I want is moe and simplicity. pic related.
If you need a label, the closest would be yume kawaii but that doesn't fit quite right.
