vtDJT is a language learning thread for anons on /vt/ that are studying the japanese language.
Discussion will appertain to vtubers where possible, as per the board's rules. But, understandably, the study of japanese can extend into many different areas.

You will never be Japanese. You have no ancestry, you have no citizenship, you have no skills that would make Japan ever want you. You are a shut-in self-hating white man twisted by delusions of mythical Japanese superiority and exposure to Japanese media into a disgusting mockery of nature’s perfection. All 'validation' you get from other people in this position couldn't be worse in making you believe that spending years of your life learning a globally useless language to a first-grader's level was a worthwhile use of your time, but one can't expect that an individual as pathetic as you will ever know the value of the youth you threw away in doing that. Actual Japanese are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of linguistic evolution have allowed natives to identify frauds from mannerisms and vocabulary alone. Even if your written text of self-hatred and attention begging akin to a stray dog's somehow passes as normal (it won't), any Japanese person will immediately cut all ties when they hear the voice and accent of someone who is not only a basic Japanese speaker at best, but worth no more than garbage in skills, accomplishments, and likeability. You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile and laugh to yourself believing that watching a content creator that you understand 20% of at best is somehow superior than watching your own kind, as you project your disgusting traits onto your entire kind. However, deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight, and you know that. You know that all you do now is have an entirely new linguistic medium in which to be ignored, and not even the exotic trait of being foreign makes up for just how uninteresting of a person you are. Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your parents will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you with a headstone marked with your birth name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a Western man is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably Caucasian. This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back. Hate yourself and apologize for being white to some Japanese entity that exists only in your mind while actual Japanese people put in effort to learn English for the valid reason of it being the global language.

The last thread had lots of shitty advice from people who don’t know what they’re doing. Learn Hiragana & Katakana, read Tae Kim’s Guide (don’t fucking skip this step, retard), learn the basic 500 Kanji, start reading and compiling more vocab

None of the people who browse this thread are the type to put effort in. It literally takes 0 effort to google “how to learn Japanese” and get a million free resources online. It’s why the /int/ /djt/ is so shit. Japanese is one of the easiest languages to learn by virtue of how much free shit there is compared to other languages.

My tip is to not worry too much about what's the most efficient way to learn Japanese, something is better than nothing. It's also a good idea to study Japanese in a way that incorporates your interests: look up words you hear often when watching vtubers or anime, read chat and comments with the yomichan add-on, use vtubers as background noise when you're doing something else.

>> No.47744594

>>47744499
This
I never used shit like anki for vocab, only for kanji but I think that can actually works if you already got some vocab though anime and chuuba

>> No.47744724

>>47743445
Is your goal to become fluent enough to understand chuubas or do you also want to speak it? If you only want to learn Japanese to watch JP chuubas then you don't have to speak the language ever, although I don't see how speaking could hurt.

>> No.47744763

>>47744499
Definitely this, but you need to start somewhere.
I did the basic grind using anki to start. Around 6 months in I made a mining deck and just mined what little nip I came across. 10 months in I finally decided to try being more active and started playing some games. I've been taking it slow, to the point that I'm less than half as good as I could be, but I have still made enough progress to have few issues with the media I consume right now, just under 3 years in.
Which reminds me. For anyone that wants to go the game route, this spreadsheet is useful.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ukDIWSkh_xvpppPbgs1nUR2kaEwFaWlsJgZUlb9LuTs/edit#gid=0

Not everything listed has full transcripts, but it's ungodly useful when they do.

Textractor probably won't work in most emulation. I could be wrong, I realize I don't think I tried it properly.
I've also never tried it for games outside of VNs in general. How well does it work there, if you've done that? If it works I might finally have reason to try using my Win10do VM again.

>>47746872
You wrote something like "stop drawing on paper" (+ desuka but that doesn't mean anything here so she probably thought it was a mistake)
Then she replied "You mean I shouldn't draw on paper ?"

A proper phrase would be "紙に絵を描くことをやめましたか"

In general, use your grammar book for basics, but when you're sending someone a message, study the way chat talks to learn how to address someone properly.
Notice how they never use あなたお前君except maybe when joking?

Being told あなた(…)when your name has already been introduced, is like if a random dude walked up to you on the street and pointed a finger at you.
That's how I would convey using pronouns instead of someone's name (or better yet, just leaving out the subject entirely when it's obvious).
